Thanks for the demo Barry. I just received my DEERING Artisan Special and had previously ordered a cradle Banjo strap. I came across your video . I have not installed the strap yet, will find out soon. Thank you for the video.

Barry, you get all the good jobs! You even make fitting a strap an enjoyable and fun process You're a natural teacher with a great sense of humour. The Deering sets of videos on KZbin are really useful, educational and I find them totally engaging. It's enough to make me choose a Deering over any other brand because I can see the passion and love that goes into each instrument. Thanks for it all, well, there are other people involved too I know but I'm sure you know what a good product you have.

Are there any tricks to putting the banjo in the case with the kind of strap? There does not seem to be a lot of free space in my Deering banjo case for the strap.
@DeeringBanjoCo
@DeeringBanjoCo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug. The best way is to wrap the strap around the circumference of the banjo. That seems to be the most popular method.

Yes there are. You can get another cradle strap of similar quality but is much narrower in the top half that fits into the case with it. It’s kind of unethical to mention here on an ethical companies service page but you can find it easy enough. Otherwise you must remove the strap again. I made my own cradle strap and the made a single permanent join of an old at the tailpiece side of an old Pierre Cardin belt sacrificed as the cradle length and old guitar strap top should part sacrificed for the purpose. I made the tail piece side join permanent permanent as stated but the neck side laced like a boot at the end of the belt that loops through and laces to itself at the guitar straps leather bollard hole piece, which I cut off square and made a rectangular mailbox like slot for the belt to lace though to itself. Finish playing undo the lace and pull it out it takes 4 seconds. A much better design than having it join in the centre of the cradle. Plus the leather in that 200 buck belt is a treat lol. My wife asks where the belt has gone and I’m wearing it with the B-Jo and say I lent it to Jimmy Hoffa its a mystery….. Gee I’m starting to hate this poisoned apple iPhone ! The AI Always changes my input into jibberish and I’m forever redoing comment when I can be bothered. You can probably guess why. I say things not in line with the official narrative more akin to the brothers Grimm and someone doesn’t like it. They are literal Poisoned Apples by the way. It is an intended pun by the company that funded Jobs. Just like the Beatles Apple corps pun; ask yourself why Apple Corps did not sue ! Apple (mackintosh) it would have won. They’re a reason. It’s pointless to sue yourself! These machines are not for YOUR benefit 100%. The world has not improved but become infinitely corrupt. Microsoft should in truth be named Soft Micros. Q-DOS Gates bought for a pittance to then sell copies of a 300 bucks a copy button press with help from mummies company and the theft of Sun and Csharp which is literally Java with Microsoft intermediate language and it’s gigabytes of undynamic libraries was a very badly floored Operating system with wrong back slashes ASCII and ambiguities built into the code. It wasn’t worth anything. Unix what they all use is far superior and coded by real geniuses not a spoilt psychopath whose mum called in a favour to stop him smoking the bucket and living on pizza and coke. It matter little now Mossad has a backdoor in all your CPUs for 8 years to weed out the honest folk that know they hate gentiles and seek to enslave them all. So you it’s no wonder is it. I do not theorise. The truth is ugly and I wish I was wrong.

Instead of boot laces can you use chicago nuts??
@sundaynightdrunk
@sundaynightdrunk 5 жыл бұрын
Many of them come with Chicago screws, including the Deering straps. A lot of people don't prefer them because they want the strap flat, and the nuts could/would scratch the banjo.

Hi I'm just going to set up the strap but find with a black background and you wearing black and black strap it's not the right combination of colours to do a clear demonstration will still give a thumbs up as I'm sure your instructions will be correct. 😕

I’m new to the banjo scene but might it be better to go under the tailpiece? Only thinking that the strap on top of the tailpiece could knock the banjo out of tune.
@OtterLakeFlutes
@OtterLakeFlutes 6 жыл бұрын
Not wanting my strap messing with the tailpiece, yeah, I started attaching or going under (depending on cradle or non) one more tension hook further away. Then the strap comes around my body and up to the banjo without contact to the tailpiece. The strap mightn't have ever made a difference if my tailpiece was nice and tight, but I'm just someone who hated it being there and got used to it this way.

I like Deering but this is just not a good and honest video. I recently bought a Deering stitched leather cradle strap for my Sierra. I've been struggling with exactly where to attach it so I arrive here to watch Berry struggle through this. For $36 it's a good leather strap. Comparable straps are $75+ but shoelaces? really? Leather shoelaces at Walmart are $3 and fit and look better, the excess can be trimmed. Biggest issue is, haha I'm sure Berry can attest because he didn't put the strap over his head, is that if you attach it this way it's way too short. I'm 5'8 and I used the very first hole on each strap and it winds up on my rib cage. To use this strap you're going to have to loop it around the hooks plain and simple. Please Deering, add 6" to each strap and charge an appropriate amount for what would be an awesome strap and please, please remake this video into something that befits the Deering name.

Hi Vincent. That is a great choice of strap. I personally liked it so much that I had the company that makes them make me two custom width bass straps in the same style. Love them. The cost of the strap is very much in the fact that they are all made by hand, in small batches in the US, not by a giant strap company making everything overseas. Using a cradle system like this is fairly unique to the banjo. It is not the only method by any means. We send all of our straps with a set of Chicago screws to do exactly what you are describing. I am 6'2" and a pretty big build. The cradle system doesn't work for me so I have always used Chicago. This is likely the best approach for you, also.

@@DeeringBanjoCo Thank you for your reply. I'm glad you love your strap, great. My Deering stitched cradle strap that I bought from the factory showroom in january did not come with chicago screws. Please view this video to see exactly why I had a comment on your attachment video. I'm happy with my solution but for a true cradle strap, it's too short. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5W6qGyOodB4grecttps://kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5W6qGyOodB4grc

I’m sorry but Great banjo, lovely leather but seriously very poor video. Redo this. Black background wearing a black t- shirt? His hands fiddle with it completely covering the strap . You literally can’t see whatsoever he is doing because his hands completely cover the installation. Very frustrating
