I pick a couple of these up cheaply, will one work in my Amiga 600 and could it be a better choice than using a compact flash card and adapter?

Thanks for the video. I'd never heard of these types of hard drive! Very interesting.

that looks like a real easy way to add a hard drive :D, i'm not really techie, and don't want to spend loads on something i only use every now and then, deffo giving this a go, thanks.

Just purchased and Amiga 600, and am looking for better storage solutions for gaming, this has given me food for thought.

Loving my A600, I think it's the best-looking model. I modded mine by installing a Gotek drive (along with buttons, the display, USB port and plugging the floppy drive hole).

I really like how compact it is. it takes up so little space compared to any other Amiga, I can usually find a space for it somewhere.

@@Jayoldstuff1 Yes, and thanks to the PCMCIA card slot (which nobody cared for when it came out) it can be easily connected to the network.

It's easier to set up a HDD \ CF Card in an Emulator like WinUAE Jay. Just move the HDD \ CF Card over to the Amiga once everything is set up. I did this for my Amiga 1200 and classic workbench with WHDLoad install. it saved me alot of headache.

I've tried doing it that way a few times with a compact flash card and although I can get it to work perfectly in the emulator I've never got the card to then load on an actual Amiga. I'm going to try it again but using the spare D.O.M. I have, just need to sort an adapter out so i can connect the D.O.M. to a spare IDE channel on the PC.

do you have this HDinstTO in a adf file ? do you know how i can get it ?

The metal HD caddy thing is actually worth keeping as it gives some stability to the keyboard. Not sure if it will fit alongside the Disk on module? Definitely doesn't fit if you get any sort of expansion that clips onto the CPU though. Never used one of these DOMs on an amiga but I might pick one up at some point, they look neat :)

You are quite correct and I have now put it back in the A600 minus the old compact flash adapter and cable. It fits fine with the D.O.M. installed too.

So the power lead on the DOM is not needed because of the power pins on the 44 Pin interface
@Jayoldstuff13 жыл бұрын
yep you get two sorts a 40 pin version with a lead you need to connect to 5v and the 44 pin version without the lead that gets its power through the connector.
