Installing a Fuel Pressure Gauge / How to Check Pressure on Your AirDog!

Forgive the dumbness of this question/statement. I've used the Blue Monster tape that says it's ok to use on petroleum oil distillities. Pardon the misspelling there and I've never had an issue. Am I wrong for using that instead of the other?? I only use it on the pressure sending side of things!!

Can you install a fuel gauge further up where the primer on the oem fuel filter is? Deleted the primer because it was leaking and the blocker plate comes with a pre drilled hole for a fuel pressure gauge. Will it give the same readings as if it was installed in the lift pump?

I wonder how much of a technical challenge it would be to use a Bluetooth transmitter for the output pressure data, and read the output on a wireless gage, or smart phone?

Most fuel pressure gauges can be easily adapted!

@Airdog Fuel Systems / Diesel RX I don't understand. Adapted to wireless? My aftermarket TPMS is wireless, using a 3 volt coin battery at the transmitter, and produces warnings for low/high pressure, high temperature, sudden pressure loss and current pressure/temperature. Batteries last 6-12 months. I'd love to see this capability offered as an option by AirDog.

Can you install a liquid filled gauge with the 1/8” NPT Tee right out of the positive line to the fuel injection pump or is that something that will affect the fuel flow, reversing the work that the lift pump did?

What should the idle pressure be at on 2018 cummins with a 12mm pump

You should be at 15-18psi.

If I have a fuel pressure regulator would I just be able to read it off that or still put one on the pump?

At the fuel pressure regulator will work just fine. Reading pressure anywhere on the pressure side of the pump will give you an accurate reading.

8-10psi is what u want. thats why the newer gen lift pump is set to that. i dont own a cummins but i own a duramax, it dont like more than 10.

10 PSI is correct for the GM Duramax platform!

You can. You just need a sender that is 1/8npt. If the sender wiring is too short, you can either extend the wiring or get a fuel pressure splice and move the sender farther upstream so the wires reach.

So, with a airdog 5G, how are we supposed to put a liquid filled gauge on it when it's pointing at the frame rail?

The spacer block still allows you to mount the pump on the inside of the frame rail, with the diaphragm regulator facing the frame, so in that circumstance the gauge port would be facing outwards. This particular truck with the def tank location didn’t leave option for inside of the frame rail, that is why it is mounted on outside of the frame rail. Though if you do find yourself in a situation that you can’t fit a liquid filled gauge into the AirDog base, I would recommend the fuel pressure splice.
