Just like Oldsmobile, they come with only the steel shim style valley pan. The proper name is VALLEY PAN GASKET. The additional gaskets that come in the kits are for those who have had the heads heavily decked.

Hey just so you know that's not just a kickdown linkage like on a General Motors it's crucial you have that adjusted correctly it controls the shifting by pressure don't listen if you hear about having to have a certain tool when you ajust the linkage. NO YOU DON'T It's simple your throttle on your carburetor full throttle push that solid Rod linkage from the transmission as far back as you can tighten down and done. your perfect.if you don't do that you will burn up a torqueflite transmission. peace out!!

Looking good Dan, Dani, and Mur! You should ask Big Easy or Uncle Tony about installing the new aluminum intake. Love that 440, that C body rad is definitely the way to go that small 22 inch won’t do it, you didn’t get the fan with the 440? That would be the best one, you need your kick down linkage to be on the rear stop in the trans at WOT for the max pressure

@bobbymuse77933 жыл бұрын
Looks good in the engine bay. Nice work on getting it in without much carnage. 1) You can run a 22-inch radiator; big blocks didn't automatically have 26-inch. I ordered a 26-in aluminum rad on eBay for just over $200. They are tight on the battery box and the passenger side frame rail. You need the driver side to drop in past the battery box, and then position the passenger side. I blue taped everything metal and used cardboard on the radiator face. It was a huge pain, and I had a second person. 2) Nothing wrong with mechanical fans, but a shroud really helps (I spent more on the shroud than I did on the radiator). But you need to have your fan on so you can locate the radiator height and position before you mark and drill. 3) Kickdown linkage: A lot of good info here, even if you aren't buying the Lokar cable. www.hotrod.com/articles/the-lowdown-on-stock-torqueflite-kick-down-linkage/ 4) The factory intake is brutal heavy. Sure, you'll gain some HP by ditching it, but more important is the stress on your back.

Its good that you used the c body rad. If I remember, the b body water pump lower inlet and lower rad outlet are on opposite side of c body. Mentioning 440 source again for parts. Pulleys, anything engine you need really. Guy in earlier comment caught the valley pan issue already. Good call on the aluminum intake. It causes a lot of strife in mopar community, but I switch all mine to gm ignition module and mid 90's coils. Plus with no AC you can run a newer style 100amp GM alt. You really clean up the wire harness. Lastly, using a Ford solenoid on the fender well to run starter and get bat voltage everywhere lets you run at 12 volts instead of 9.

That year mopar only puts power to the coil when the key is in run. The idea is to get it spinning then you let go of the key and it fires. I put a relay on the starter at the firewall relay and give the coil a full 12v when it spins. They kick right off with that mod.

@@mikeobrien3744 In the old muscle cars there were 2 size rads. 22" and 26". You could get then in 2,3,4 cores with shrouds. Many radiator companies make replacements like factory or in aluminum. Many I know are running a cheap CHAMPION ALUMINUM rad with no problems.

Looks good , you need to have full kick down at full throttle , i won't be surprised if the C body kick down stuff fouls on the fire wall , you can use / modify the 318 kick down stuff even if its from the 904 trans , take the small trans lever too , there should be a pin on the carb and a slotted linkage for the carb , you will probably be cutting welding this . you need very little kick down at low speed but 100% kick down at full throttle , its a pain in the ass but once its right its right :)
@xozindustries74513 жыл бұрын
The small block radiator has the inlets and outlets in different spots, also the big block radiator support has a bigger opening, you can cut the hole in the radiator support bigger to let more airflow through
@79tazman3 жыл бұрын

In 1968 The kick down had two pivots. One at the back of the intake, and one on a long stud with a cotter pin where the bolt hole is on the bell housing of the trans. Look near the starter. The kick down supplied with the engine is the newer one piece style they adopted to save money in something like 1972.

On those cast iron intakes on Fords you can cut the heads off a couple of bolts and kind of make some studs to slip it down on a lot easier than any other way
