Good video bro. I appreciate your time, detail and genuine commentary. About to try it myself right now

My friend, this was a great video. You do it slowly to prevent damage to the console. This is good info.

Good job! Loved that you included the whole process. Most videos just show the b4 and then the finished product. Great mod too looks so much better than the original!

Every Engineer who gets stuck in the design of clips and fasteners departments, gets their revenge on us diy folks. Either 50 different Engineers or One really angry guy makes each one unique and leaves US with no idea how to remove the myriad of different designs. The bane of the diy Car enthusiasts, lol!

American Muscle has an install video, would've saved you a bit of aggregation. That was painful watching you struggle.....but you did it !!

I just messed around by trying to break the plastic loose. There is no reason at all to break the big console piece loose. All you need to do is pinch the plastic section between the boot and the small coin/key tray. Then pull up with enough force to create a tiny gap at the back of the boot plastic part. Then slide a thin plastic pry tool (see harbor freight) into that gap. Then use one of the other pry tools and slide the tool to either corner. Then use the one that looks like a crowbar and pop it up on the corners.

Just watched again. I didn't realize the coin thing comes out. That would be easier than pinching. At 2:56 you had that tiny gap needed to slide the prey bar under.

this might be a stupid question, but why do you have to leave the old shifter in the car under the console
@LRHNCash2 ай бұрын
So it can read properly without that being plug up the transmission can’t send a signal to what gear the car is in. And you will get service shifter on your dash and sometimes the car want go into drive or reverse if that’s not plugged in.

@@marccamacho8551 No worries! Its to maintain OEM functionality. To my knowledge there is no electronics in the Hurst shift knob.

Looks Gr8 for bling, but your video talked me right out of it watching the install, I would have tossed the $300-dollar shifter in the trash & went to my closest watering hole & started 12oz curls, one after the other calling myself one dumb mother f**ker for wasting $3 hundo on stupid bling, jus sayin!!! Gr8 video & again, thanks for saving me a meltdown, I'm already one blade of grass from being insane, LOL

WARNING: The factory boot is shidt. Very thin leather, very dry, and will split/tear easily. I ruined mine installing this Hurst, and hand-sewed a new one based on the factory pattern. ...And after zip tie/set screw, shift into D before snapping the boot clips into place.
