thank you for posting this...hubby decided to go back to manual...we did not have a small lead ball but got a 1/16 fishing weight and lightly hammered it in the hole and put some sealer on the hole and looks like it is gonna work great.

Thank you for this! Very well done video. I can’t get my electric choke to work correctly and I’m getting ready to install a manual choke myself. This video will prove to be very helpful.

Electrcial chokes were always inferior designs for drivers too lazy to work a manual choke. This video is what Holley should have produced if they cared. Good work! Subscribed.

I've definitely been happier with the control and ability to manually manipulate the manual choke. Thanks!

Agreed, electric chokes are beatiful on a car/truck that only drives every Sunday when its 70-85f. I live in ky and see wildly variable temps during the wintertime, to say I'm over this electric choke is an understatement.

Yes it is. I didn’t realize how much easier it made it to work on the carb. Easy to flip over the entire carb and work on the bottom as well

great video! ive been fighting rich off idle condition for months now, and come to find out when you open the throttle only when driving the vehicle the choke flap closes and the vehicle falls on its face every time, im going to switch to manual choke, the spring could just be so worn on my electric choke, thanks for the info on the conversion! keep on hot roding!
@SmackeysGarage Жыл бұрын
Glad this was able to help you! One thing I've seen on the electric choke, is if the spring doesn't get placed back on the little arm under the manual choke black housing, it can have symptoms like that. Manual choke is a better option though if you are like me and prefer control! Keep on hot rodding!!!
@patrickcurram97633 ай бұрын
Thank you I’m hating chokes in general right now! It’s either a power supply for the electric choke or the vacuum leaks for the hot chok. I’m going this way and being done with it! I just had to change carbs in the fall lol not smart
@SmackeysGarage3 ай бұрын
I hear you. I started with an electric choke and it performed OK. Part of it not performing well was me having to get the car out of the garage with the choke still on. I recently went back to running a manual choke and I'm really happy about it. I did a comparison video of my experiences running a manual choke, electric choke, and no choke. Spoiler: I went back to manual!
@BPattBАй бұрын
I caught at the end that you made a few other mods when the carb was off. If you were only doing the choke swap do you think you could have left the float bowls and metering blocks on the carb while you installed the new manual choke?
@SmackeysGarageАй бұрын
I feel like I could have left them on since nothing inside that area was changing. Installing that small ball with the manual choke would have been harder if the carburetor was still on the car.
@BPattBАй бұрын
@SmackeysGarage yeah I think I'll pull it off and do the sawp. I was looking at all the little parts of the kit and thinking "idk about this" but your video was great. Made it look easy

Hi, what carb base plate are you using? I have Hollley 650DP but I am missing one more 3/8 vacuum port for PCV and brake booster

I'm using the carb baseplate that came with my carb. It is Holley P/N 76750BL. I plan on taking the carb apart more this week and can let you know just the base plate P/N.

Is is possible to swap back to the electric choke? For long term purposes I want an electric choke. But for short term purpose of breaking in a new engine I need a manual choke.
@SmackeysGarage2 жыл бұрын
You would need to drill out the lead ball that is placed in with the kit. Or, if you want find some other less permanent way to seal that area. Otherwise, the parts just bolt on.
