I've been changing my own bike tires and tubes for almost 55 years with not too many issues....until I started buying tires online and then had them mailed to me in the same box as yours came in. Now, a job that was once fairly simple and straightforward has become a nightmarish impossibility. I can't get that tire onto the rim because, unlike when you would buy a bike and then one day the tires go flat, you remove the old tire, put in a new or patched tube, and put the old tire back on. The old tire is already round, or formed along the edges, and goes on the rim with little problem. But the new tires, the one that come in a box, don't have that nice formed channel (the tire bead) that fits right over the rim....the tire edges, or bead, is all flattened out and I can't "form" that bead to fit over the rim, even after repeatedly "pinching it" like you showed. It's been a real nightmare, but it looks like you figured it out. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
@TheEclecticHandyman3 жыл бұрын
You know the tires I bought were also in a box, and I just pulled them out and kind of stretched them out by hand, and that seemed to work OK for me. I did add that little bit of air too 1st, which helped give it shape. Thanks for watching!
@brainn30573 жыл бұрын
My nightmare today. I filled up the inner tube in the new tire, then tried for 20 minutes to get the tire into the rim. I had to stop before I threw the rim across the garage in a rage. Looks like I'll try to put the inner tube on the rim first.
@adobemastr3 жыл бұрын
@@brainn3057 I know how you feel, friend. Did your tire come in a box, all folded up? I think this is where the problem comes in. And I haven’t figured out a way to overcome those impossible bends in the tire from being folded up in the box.
@davidcollier1207 Жыл бұрын
Fit one "bead" onto the rim first. Take care regarding tyre directional rotation and work on the non greasy side, that is away from the cassette. Then a little air into the tube, and fit it into position, as our Handyman says, keeping the valve straight in the hole in the rim. Then, starting from one point on the rim, work the remaining tyre bead into position with each hand working away from the other, keeping pressure on the tyre in both directions, the bead pulls down into the rim. By the time both hands meet again on the opposite side of the rim the remaining small section of bead will pop into place. It's hard to put into words, but it is a technique, once mastered it's like "riding a bike!" You'll never forget.

The stem I got is like this thin metal thing and you had to buy this other yellow colored adapter to make it look like the original stem. Did not inflate for some reason I wonder if that's a special type of tube, even though I bought it next to all the other brands I could have possibly bought and it was around the same price. I’m about to lose my damn mind. The inner tube I ordered seems to be too long - but I double checked the order and packaging, the length matches the factory tires, just like the length/size. That would mean the wrong size tubes were installed for the last decade… but I’ve driven this bike so many times and kilometers, tubes being too long would’ve made the tyre wobbly wouldn’t it??
