Installing A New Digital Rola-Chem

I'm installing a newer digital Rola-Chem for a customer. What this does is slow feeds Chlorine all week so I don't have to rely on a gallon of Chlorine to last all week. This will keep my customers pool sanitized all week long.

5 gallon paint bucket with lid is much cheaper than a branded reservoir that needs modification.

I usually use an empty 5 gallon chem bucket with locking lid but Rola-Chem gave me that and wanted me to use it. Thanks for the comment!

Good job, great video!!! I’ve got a Pentair Rainbow 3” hockey puck feeder. Can I just disconnect that and use the same system of hoses and connecters currently in use on the return side to connect to the Rola-chem. Mainly I was thinking about the actual fitting on the PVC pipe that’s hose clamped on and the Pentair check valve

You won’t be able to use the same hoses you will need to use the supplied hoses. If you have the proper T fitting with the right threads it will work. If not just replace the T fitting. Not familiar with the tab feeders.

Thanks for the good video! This could be an option for my pool's chlorine needs while I'm on vacation, or as a way to not have to dose liquid chlorine daily when I'm home. I like how you drilled into the side of the bucket to prevent rain from getting into the top. Question : I think that Rola-Chem also makes a 120V unit with a corded plug. Trying to avoid having to wire the feeder into the pump, but if I didn't how would the feeder and the pump run at the same time? I would imagine the pump HAS to be on when the feeder is on, so that liquid chlorine doesn't sit in the return lines.

Yes you're right the Rolachem needs to run when the pump is running. If you have a timer just wire it into the timer so it comes on when the pump runs.

@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 Thanks. I don't have one of those Intermatic timers; I have a 2 speed pump with a built in digital timer. Any idea how I would wire that? Does the Rola-Chem have its own timer that I could just sync with my pump's timer?

Is this a complete kit that I could purchase and have installed? Can you supply the part numbers or a link to purchase this? I usually buy a 55 gallon drum of chlorine for the season and this would make life much easier.

How? I'm sorry for asking so many questions but their site doesn't seem like they do sales to consumers...

This is the one i use. THE PRO SERIES 300 PERISTALTIC PUMPS You need to know if you have 120 or 240 volts. Do you want the one with a cord or do you want to wire it up to your timer. That is more than enough for a 20k pool.

@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 i have a timer so i'd like to wire it to run with the pump. I'm pretty sure the pump is 120 but I have an electrician friend that can connect it for me in just in case. Can I order it directly from Rola-Chem or do I need to find a vendor?

The pinch tube lasted one summer to the other. I would replace the pinch tube and return tube every swimming season. Just clean the check valve.

@@swimmingpoolchemistrydoner5569 Great, so the machine handles the weather, I have a in ground with no outlet(backwash). I learned the hard way with tablets, over time cya shot up and had to dilute the pool.

Yes. Plus dont forget when u add a gallon of chlorine to a pool with 50 ppm CYA you are only protecting 5 ppm chlorine. Anything over that will be burned off fast. The rolachem will also save you on chlorine.

I really want to like your videos, but you skip a lot of steps and don’t explain a lot of critical steps. I.E. do we need to purchase our own electric conduits: yes. What if we chose not to tap the return pipe, what size pipe with thread do we need? Also, you skip a lot of steps in your videos on this part. Is there a difference in rola chems? 240 v 120. Is the rola chem chlorine bucket necessary? Just ro name a few items you leave viewers hanging. I appreciate you attempting make an instructional video.

Fred, maybe he is not attempting to make an instructional video. Maybe this video is just to show what product he uses for his company and how installs it. No where in the video or description does he claim that this a step by step tutorial.
