In this video I am excavating and installing a new septic tank and sump tank for a new mound septic system. I also install the Orenco Biotube pump vault and go over how I like to set the pump and floats. In addition I install a Zabel Effluent filter.

This mound type of septic was part of S FL code for over 40 years and was abandonded a few years ago after ascertaining that it did not prevent or lessen any effluent discharge from getting to water table and system has to have a lift pump with a sump and needs electricty to operate vs. the normal gravity operated below grade septic system where a municipal sewer system is not available. Your installation is extremely well executed your customer is getting their money's worth. Nice job. Most important aspect of a septic system is to keep the area above the drainfield clear and with green ground cover to take up the excess nitrogen. Ray Stormont

Boy, if those were considered tough digging conditions, you should travel around the country. I was going to comment on how nice the conditions looked, ha! How big is the bucket you were using? Nice job.

I agree 100%. most of the digging in my area is very easy. I am spoiled that way. A narrower bucket would have helped. There are a few spots that require a breaker hammer. Thanks for watching.

If the pump fails, how exactly could the house get flooded with sewage? With the house higher than the tank, there would have to be some provision that in a catastrophic situation the sewage would spill or overflow outside the house instead of inside the house.

At this site, due to the elevation difference, the wastewater would likely escape at the top of the riser where the lid screws down. On a flat site there could be the potential especially if the lids are sealed tight. Typically, the water will back-up into the lowest drain catch like a bathtub or shower pan. I think you have a good Idea on the emergency overflow provision for outside the home! Good question and thanks for watching.
