I was watching a weather channel today, and it says you guys are supposed to be getting LOTS of rain. I was miffed after seeing it. I thought Laura was out working in her gardens, and she was excited to be outside, and I was excited to see her outside. Laura,do you realize that your eyes sparkle and you have a spring in your step when you work in your gardens? The honeysuckle vine looks so good now that you gave it a haircut. 😂

Your wisteria prune a few days ago motivated me to prune my two overgrown bougainvillea & cleanup my backyard flower bed. Then went to my 89 year old mom’s garden & pruned her rose bushes, massive bougainvillea that grows over her trellis. Thanks for that! Great job on the pond! BTW: I inherited my dad’s pruning shears (he just passed away 7 months ago) so this made me cry just a little. Thank you for the cleaning tutorial…I’ll make sure I keep dads garden tools sharp & ready for this year’s pruning. Greetings from sunny California!

I love watching, learning, and being inspired by your videos. I'm saddened on the days I don't get to see a new one, but try and watch an older one... just for the positive vibes and encouragement! You are more and more, the best part of my day. I often wonder, as I am starting to compost more now, do you think you'll ever start using all of your trimmings and old stuff to compost your own? It seems like, with all that you grow and as much as you trim/cut, that you could probably eliminate a LOT of money spent on compost and just do more nature stuff by composting for yourselves. That is assuming, you aren't already. You seem to have the space to do it, but I know you have beautiful plans for the space too. I'd love to see how it might turn out for you on such a grand level, if you were interested on taking on more projects.

Must say I used to be overwhelmed watching Laura because oh my! (She’s living the best life as far as gardening goes but also like she said in a recent video she does have help because one could not do it all.) This January I find myself outside working in the garden too so I wonder if it’s not something that just grows on you. I spend more and more time in my garden and preparation is key to having a good season. I don’t really have/make the time or energy from July-October to do anything other than enjoy the fruits of my labor and I’m learning to do my work in the off season. Anymore I’m a bit more like Laura… I’m gardening all year except the hot/busy months.

While i myself would be ugh i need to cut back something you tackle it with a smile an enthusiasm, just happy the sun is out an you can get to it. Now that's what motivates me an i am sure other followers. So good to see Aaron back and that he's feeling so much better. Lot's of early spring bulbs are already up here in Georgia. We hzve had temps in the sixties an one day it was seventy. Still some very cool nights, but the sun has been out everyday after the weeks of on an off rains. We always have daffodils blooming before valentines day, along with hyacinths, some tulips, an of course one of the Southern favorites Camelias. February 1st ,abd Spring is in the air.

Thank you! Our honeysuckle is about 48 years in the ground when we planted it in 1976 when we bought our home....needless to say it has been getting unpromising for a number of years now ...like the last ten . So when I finish an area I started weeding. ..(at your encouragement a day or so ago).. then I will try to do the same you did today on the honeysuckle bushes (think there's 7 or 8 of them).... didn't know how far we could take them back ..have used hedge trimmers on them many times and my pruners also, but now going to get after them .... Remembering years back when another household in our area had a truck come in and landscape workers pruned for a number of days and pitchforked and dug around each plant to try to save them or rock them to loosen them in the ground, but finally put large, I mean large linked chain around them twice and pulled them totally out, slowly with a truck....took days. Ours are in the same type of situation as theirs ...at the top of our hill, at the edge of our grass in a slight 1/2 moon shapes to the slight curve in which we planted them ... knowing this could be their salvation or demise... After all these years....will try not to worry about them...this could be an all spring and possibly all summer project for me since I'm 80 years old now, but hey....what else may help them ...we certainly can't afford to have them removed....😊

Hey. A quick comment to help avoid the rust and corrosion on your tools. Try a quick wipe down or even wash any soil off. Then spray a light coat of WD-40 on all metal surfaces and they will be protected and ready to use the next time you need them. The carrier liquid will eventually evaporate leaving the protective silicone behind. This works well on shovels, spades, rakes, etc.... It takes much less time to prevent corrosion than it does to remove it and a clean tool goes through the soil so much easier than a rusty one.

It took our pond about 2 to 1/2 years to balance out. I have The fancy tailed gold fish and the black poppy eyed gold fish. We have a sizeable pond as you do. We have 98 of them in the pond. They have done well for the 3rd yr and I had any die at least that I know of. The deepest part of the pond is 4 feet and it has2 waterfall s. We love watching our fish they stand out nicely. Also although our fish was small they have grown substantially. I'm in Pennsylvania. I had chosen my type of fish because I love them. When I bought them they was the size of a dime now they are sizable. I'm hoping for babies this yr. I'm wanting to add fancy fan tail albino gold fish this spring I ordered 25 and I ordered 25 Calico fancy fan tail gold fish for the end of April. ❤

We're in GA and had a Halls honeysuckle in our front yard, actually two of them, that the former owner planted to hide a utility box. It wasn't trellised and I've struggled with it the last ten years, always sending out ropes and filled with wildlife (we can never stick our hands in a plant the way Laura does, if we want it back anyway). But last Christmas we had extended 20-something degree weather and -- yay -- we lost the honeysuckle. It was pretty dead by spring so we pulled most of it out, thankfully much was rotted already. All that to say, I love the smell of honeysuckle, but you probably will regret planting one in a suburban yard if you're in the south.

I think I know how the honeysuckle felt after Laura got done with it … I recently did a big chop on my hair and when I got up from the chair at first I nearly died, I hardly recognized myself then I thought I was going to cry but pretty soon I was strutting and twirling around because I suddenly started to feel so light and free like I can breathe again … for sure that’s what the poor honeysuckle has to be feeling! Great job Laura 😅

Enjoy your videos. I am not ready to get out in my garden here in Ontario, Canada but I could certainly do a clean up of my lobbers and trimmers. Thanks for the demonstration. Stay well and warmer. Our - 1C today.

Thought ~ moving the honeysuckle to the side of the barn? It would have space to grow. Thank you for sharing how to preserve loppers!

Laura sometimes if you pair the items close to your modem, they will then work fine once you move them to where you actually want them. I found that to be the case with several outdoor devices.

Many thanks for showing how to prune an overgrown honeysuckle. As I neither knew the variety of mine, nor any better, I cut mine down - all branches - to 12" above ground last Autumn. Here in the North East of UK. Now crossing my fingers that I hopefully will see some new growth later. Thank you for all your advice xx

We have honeysuckle working wild along with wild grape vines and Virginia creeper. I enjoy the honeysuckle.

Great info for me personally- and of course good timing. I’ve been in this house almost 30 years and deliberately have done nothing to the very back of my large backyard. Its density provides a great habitat for birds and other wildlife (and a perfect escape for my latest dog to escape when he didn’t want to come in😊) but the honeysuckle has lost its luster. I vowed to just leave that area alone but I may just tweak it a bit, now that I know how. So, thanks again!
