You're going to love this mod. My install took 3hrs, but only because I misunderstood the right and left strut orientation. I would do it for money for about 2hours each. All take out goes in there. My kids giant backpack at school pickup, goes in there.

Considering how relatively simple it is, I'm surprised they don't come like that from factory, especially since the manual states to close with both hands. But it's also the consideration that the frunk isn't safe - it can easily be opened by anyone.

If Gjeebs did this mod on his own, I was gonna consider buying it too. Figure I’m about as technically handy as him. But he needed to bring in a ringer so I’m not gonna try it.

Added a powered frunk to my 22 MYP. It took me about 3-4 hours. The hardest part by far was removing the old struts and installing the brackets that hold the new struts. All of the wires were also a bit overwhelming but you eventually figure it out...

I had Distinct Tesla in Chandler AZ put the powered frunk for me. I love it. I didn't use frunk prior to installation because I hated the hood flexing when closing it. Now I always use it when doing grocery or Costco run. Less space for the oranges to roll around in.

I'm too scared to void my warranty plus the frunk opens just fine it barely takes any effort to open and close

I have been wanting to do this since I got my car a month ago. But I have heard of many stories of the cheap parts breaking and one side going up bending the whole hood. I have also read of an instance where the car thought the hood was latched and the hood flew up at 35mph. Be careful

Nice! I installed the power frunk kit from EVOffer, it looks like it’s the same as that one. On mine, I thought it really pulled too hard when closing, if you do a firmware update using the SD card there is a text file where you can set the closing motor current limit and timeout period, I played around with those settings and got it just right for my 2022 MYLR.

It's especially useful with a key fob. As you approach the car with groceries or whatever you just reach into your pocket and click the fob to open the frunk. No need to pull your phone out and fiddle with or wait for the app.

@@qman66 Model S and X came with a key fob up until about a year ago. They're very convenient because you have instant access to the trunk/frunk.

FYI, after several snapped wires on my frunk kit and working with EVOffer, they now recommend a different mounting location for the pull motor. They recommend placing it about 18 inches down from the frunk latch (downward sloping black metal brace).

Keep us updated if connected to the lithium 12v causes issues. I tried installing mine with an aux 12v battery but it seems that the brain of the struts needs to be directly connected to the tesla power

Would have prefered if they had found some fitting place to mount the controller and latch motor, it seems a bit sketch to just zip tie them to some hole in the bodywork, even with the padding the latch motor was free to move when acceperating, braking and cornering. Surely there must be somewhere, there is an unused hole or a bolt that it could be mounted to. If i were to buy this, i would certainly fabricate some sort of bracket that would allow me to mount this firmly.

I'm thinking the same but it's a moot point at the moment because my Model Y hasn't been delivered yet. I guess it's one of those things you said if you don't need it but if you have it then it's no effort to use it all the time. It's value feels like it should be in the 150 to 200 range though.
