I'm seeing Model 3 LR $49,130, After Federal Tax Credit* $41,630. leasing is fine for people who change their cars often as cars likely depreciate more than the cost of a lease. You have to do your research though and also look for good deals. He also leased during the pandemic where it was a seller's market so that example makes even less sense. I have to differ about the long distance driving and the '3 day weekend' being bad with an EV. This guy has kids. His ability to drive straight for 3 hours without the kids or wife wanting to get out to get some food/use the restroom is not gonna happen. At the 3 hour mark, no matter what he is stopping. Plugging in to charge and then using the bathroom/getting food will probably get him from 20% to 70% of charge. In that ICE car, he would have the same issues, BUT have to allocate time to get to a gas station with no line and then the time to pump the gas. On a 3 day weekend trip, he may 'waste' 10 minutes with an EV compared to an ICE car. This goes to zero if they do not eat meals in the car. Think I am wrong? Hop in an ice car. As you pull into the gas station, turn a stopwatch on. Do what you would normally do, and as you leave, turn the stopwatch off. It actually is a lot longer than you think.

Financing it for 72 months is about double the lease price with the same due at signing. Since tech advances fast and in 3-6 years Tesla's cars will improve drastically, you can safely assume their cars will depreciate about $15-17k by the end of the lease term. If you lease, you are essentially paying what you would lose in depreciation if you had chosen to finance or buy the car. You can also expect Tesla to slash prices over time, as they have done many times, to make their cars more affordable. Leasing is definitely the way to go at the moment, unless you want to 'own' the car.

Leasing can be better especially in a state with high sales tax. If you can negotiate a low cap cost and get a low interest rate, it’s a sweet deal.

why would you complain about repair costs on the vehicle YOU caused? If you would be the buyer of this used vehicle you would argue and have the damage taken care of. Who else do you want to pay for the damage you cased? Tesla, really?
@maxvel71573 ай бұрын
Lol 18,000 miles in three years and payed over 20k. That's a bad financial decision. Not to mention the high cost of insurance on Tesla's. Should've just financed it and kept it until the wheels fall off.

If you're using the vehicle for business, you can write that off as an expense.
@maxvel71573 ай бұрын
@@sonovabeach Thanks H&R Block, wasn't aware of that. You still have to earn that amount to be able to make the payments and write offs are just there to lower your tax bill. Not like you're going to get all that returned to you.

@@maxvel7157 Roger. I'm guessing there is a reason leasing exists though. Businesses use it frequently. There must be a monetary reason or businesses would not use it.

In my experience it's not a good thing to buy EVs because of the horrendous value deterioration so a lease is better to have. Now, each to their own but, you have to be insane to pay that much for ANY car!

Just bought a used Tesla from Tesla which comes with a extended warranty after the original runs out. The purchase price was about the same as the open market.

As you said Jeeps Tesla 10 out of 10 so there's no dilemma on what to do get rid of the lease car and the prices of Teslas are awesome right now get a model y and you're set family perfect their peanuts they're all selling for under $30,000 like a couple of years old leasing doesn't make any sense you have to watch the mileage blah blah all this and you can't buy it out that's the other one especially as you said with Tesla which is not great they want to make the money.... And they don't care about you what you invested in the car obviously! Buy a used one 10 out of 10 definitely

Tesla does not fix those minor problems, they just sell it, don’t even clean it. That is a flat rip off. That is not cool. I just bought a M3 from Tesla 2021 and it had almost the same damage on it and they didn’t fix it. Unlike other car, manufactures and dealerships their cars are never seen until it’s sold. And the buyer is going to loose order fee and transport fee, us it was $1500.00. Beware buying used from Tesla, can’t see it before u spend money that u won’t get back if you don’t buy it.

So this was shot in May? Those Rivian deals ended in May. There's a new one now but no more Model year discount which were random by VIN anyway and could be anything between $1k off to $7k off. But it's just $6k off on Large pack R1Ts now. So not as good anymore. The example you gave was from a tax up front state and seems like they even charge tax on the full MSRP and not just the amount you're financing for the lease. States who do it that way are a minority but also it's taxes so it must be paid. Most other states it's like $3k up front for fees and first month and then you pay taxes monthly on your monthly payment like for example 7% on the $488. It's also 35 monthly payments as your up front costs already included the first month payment. Your calculation was for 37 months. I was able to snag an R1T in May and my total lease cost was $5k cheaper than the example you gave.
@charliewilliams14743 ай бұрын
$666 a month is what the real cost is on the R1 Jeebs references. Yes your only paying 24k but you divide that by 36 months and that is your true monthly payment. You just put a large down-payment is all.

This week I drove the new Model 3 Highland. Assuming he is focused on a new car, and UNLESS your buddy needs an SUV or Truck... he has only 1 economic choice: the Model 3 Highland! If he needs an SUV for Family and Road Trips, the Model Y is the One to Get! If he does reform his opinion to not drive the car on road trips, then AWD is great, otherwise as a local Phoenix commuter ONLY the RWD version would be stunning. I've owned a Model Y LR for 52k miles over 2yrs-4mo as our primary car for all vacations and long road trips ... so I most certainly do not agree with the idea that they don't make gr8 road trip cars ... as long as it is a Tesla branded car, give availability of Super Chargers.

My dad just traded in his Chevy Traverse for the new Chevy Equinox EV (leased it). Wanted a Model Y but the lease prices were still high. Tesla wanted $3K down for only 10K miles per year. Got the Equinox EV for 0 down and lower monthly payment than the Y. Dare I say that the Equinox EV has some better features than Tesla.

Never liked leasing. I've keep my vehicles on average over 15 years. My present vehicle a Nissan Leaf is now 13 years old (still on the original battery). Problem with the Korean vehicles are that they are easy to steal (the insurance will eat you alive).
