Oh, man... YOU did a marvelous job at explaining this. This video is MUCH simpler than the instructions that comes with the remote. Thanks to you and youtube, no more pulling that darn chain. LOL

How to change outlet in the house
@MarkWoodChannel6 жыл бұрын
"set the dip switches" - My in-laws built a new house about 3 years ago and the Builder installed five Westinghouse ceiling fans with lights and remotes mounted in the wall where the switch would normally go. He didn't bother setting the dip switches before installing them so if you hit the button for a light in one room it will turn on or off lights in another room. She had him out several times trying to figure the problem out, it took me 60 seconds on a Google search to figure out what was going on. Thanks for the video you just confirmed what I had already thought, the guy installed all of the fans with Factory dip switch settings, what a moron.

Great video! thank you very much. Just one question... I have only Red and Black wires, can I still install my fan or is there any chance that the color is wrong?

Thank you for such excellent video. Thanks to you, I was able to instal my ceiling fan w/remote. QUESTION: The existing on/off switch from the wall no longer controls the fan/light. Is it possible to make both (remote/wall) work? I mean, if I was to misplace the remote, how do I make it work without it?

I am replacing the old remote with a new one from the same manufacturer. I was not able to figure out how to set the fan to high before starting to install the new remote. I set the dip switches of the new remote to match the configuration of the old remote. Once the new remote was installed I turned the breaker back on and then set the remote to on. The light and the fan both turned on and the the light as well. There is a dimmer switch and the remote has three speeds as well. When I couldn’t get the remote to do anything besides “on or off” 9light and fan) I tried to set the switch on the fan to high. Well that was catastrophic test as now the remote does not work at all in turning on either the light on the fan or any speed on the fan. I was using the old receiver because the remotes appeared to be the same. I have checked dip switches and they are both set correctly. What should I do in order to calibrate the remote and receiver correctly? I was unable to set the fan speed to high before doing the installation. I sure could use some assistance and am very grateful for any help! (The UPC code for the remote is 792145354369). Thank you!!!!

I was stumped until I saw the position that the remote receiver gets installed in this video. Thanks! My Noma branded fan had 0 details about that in its pitiful instructions.

We have a fan that works but the pull chain switch doesn’t work so it only has one speed - it is installed with a swag kit so be use a toggle to turn it in and off. The fan has a non-working remote that we are hoping to replace. Will it work if we can’t put the fan on high using the pull switch?

So universal remote can be installed in any fan? Do I need to look for specific type of spec before making a purchase?

That's much better and cheaper than replacing an entire fan with a remote controlled ceiling fan.

After installing the remote, does the 3 speeds get controlled by the remote and not the pull chain switch?
@TheElectricalDoctor10 жыл бұрын
Leave the pull chain set to high, the three speeds will be controlled by the remote.

Hi.nice video what about ground wire.please follow up. Thanks
@TheElectricalDoctor4 жыл бұрын
Hi, you need to connect all the ground wires as this protects all metallic parts from a short circuit and protect you the homeowner from electrocution.

U didn’t say anything about 3 speeds fan , on which speed should be remote to operate from remote. Make it clear please so people understand . Thank you

Tony Delini the fans pull chain should be set to high. Once the unit is working remove the pull chain so the setting can never change.

Correct, when wiring a remote you do not need the red wire.

Thank you now I'm installing another ceiling fan with light but on a single switch red with blue black with black and white with white. Looks great but the fan motor doesn't work.
@artcerv104 жыл бұрын
@@TheElectricalDoctor do I use the red on this installation and not the black Black,blue with red Cap off black wire White with white Green with bare wire Correct
@TheElectricalDoctor4 жыл бұрын
@@artcerv10 What you want to do is make sure power coming to the remote receiver stays hot all the time. So if the black wire is not switched, then use the black and white as the incoming power wires. If red is the non switched, then use the red and white. Residential wiring is not specific and every electrician across the country wires circuits differently.
