Great video. The Schluter guy was very clear in his instructions and there were a lot of great tips in there. Just getting ready to do another Schluter-Kerdi shower and this will help. Thanks for the video.

Nice to see the young guys looking pro and ready to learn. Also fun to see their eyes so WIDE while soaking all the info in from actual pros! I hope the country is full of this kind of training going on in the trades. Good job all!

Love the Kerdi system. Our company uses it a lot. Shared this with our in house guys. Going to share it with our tile guy as well! 👍

Absolutely astounding video filled with GREAT TIPS. Definitely will be subscribing. Only question I had though was how did you get the Kerdi band to adhere to the stainless drain?

I don't permit kerdi without plywood backing. Personally I still prefer Wonder board RedGard. I have used Ditra for about 40 years, I do like lots of Schluter products.

These boys are professionals. I would have busted out laughing and going heeeey yoooo when my homie said 69. I can’t be the only immature jerk. Who’s with me?

I had to cut some of the video because of the goofing - buy yes they are super mature for 19

So what if you are installing small mosaic tile? Does Schluter have a minimum tile size they recommend for their shower system the way they have one for their floor system (minimum 2”)? What is the size of mosaic tile where you have to be extra careful about the buildup of kerdi-band? Is Wedi shower systems the better option for getting as near a flat plane as possible for a perfect installation of mosaic?

You said to comment so here I am. I would love some help getting more into Bathrooms and tiling. I always have subbed it out but want to do it more myself. I’m going to my parents house this next week to do a tub conversion to “practice” this method. Any other advice PASSED this video would be greatly appreciated.

what stops the foam from compressing when you step on it. how much weight can the shower pan support?

Not a pro but over the years I did a few shower enclosures with cement board and subbed out the pans. Do you think up here is New England this fairly new system like other new technologies will take awhile to catch on , compared to other regions of the country?

Kerdi board is 140$ a board where i live, insane for what it is. They're just price gouging because they're the best.

Nice. Question: why the insulation in the interior walls? Isn't it only needed for the exterior walls? Thanks.

Did I miss how you would slope the floor towards the drain?
@ConcordCarpenter6 ай бұрын
The Schlueter pin that we used is pre-sloped. You also could dry pack mud for your own sloped pan and then cover it with Schlueter membrane.

I’m from Fort Wayne Indiana I’m 27 an I’m wanting to get into the trade. But here in Indiana I’ve gotten nothing but hostility & rudeness!!! They don’t want new people in the field…. I end up setting for a driver job…. I still have a passion for HVAC & ELECTRIC…. But where do I go to get training with out get ripped off & actually get train to be in the field you want…… This is the only field I’ve had interacted with that was so hostile & an flat out disrespectful to a man who just wants to better him self, an to have a job he can have pride in building

Go into the local lumberyard sand talk to the managers - tell them you're looking for a forward-thinking company that values young people and invests in them by training them. Also, try your local trade associations like NARI - go on their bulletin boards and start posting and talking to folks. Be honest about your skill level, be willing to work hard, be loyal and learn.

Modern building materials have their place but a styrofoam shower with a foam curb? For my money I'll take cement board with a 6mil polyethylene vapor barrier on the walls running down into the 10 inch pan with the board stopping 9in. up from the floor. From the floor up to the board is stainless steel lathe and mud down below the pre-float and using conventional 40mil PVC pan material with the pan pulled up through a formed and poured solid concrete curb with top angled slightly toward the shower. The above method should last longer than the home owner, and won't leak, unless a careless tile mechanic sticks his trowel through the corner of the pan when floating the mud pack. When it comes to building showers God is in the details.🔨

Ok...I'm going to be THAT ("know it all") guy. I am SHOCKED that a Shluter rep is making so many basic errors with the install of the Kerdi Board. WOW. Basic building principles thrown out the window. Oh well. You guys have a KZbin channel and I don't, so I suppose you're the "experts."

@@ConcordCarpenter some of us expected hum to do a little samba when you were stepping on the board you installed on the floor. Such a missed opportunity, that some of us call that "an error". Maybe it's cause I'm from Brazil, but when I saw he step on there I thought "he's certainly going to do a little dance!".
