Installing a Security Bar For A Back Door

Today, Uriah Ortiz and Joshua Gehring are installing a security bar for a back door on a commercial storefront property.
A security bar is designed to brace and hold the door from the inside, preventing people from pulling your door open. A security bar for door protection is commonly applied in retail spaces, though other applications are entirely possible.
Installing a security bar on a door is relatively simple. First, measurements are taken and the assembly is bolted through the door. Then hook bolts are placed to an appropriate length and the proper bar is installed. Then, a legal warning sticker to remove the bar during occupancy is applied.

My former boss would probably have me use the orange dead blow hammer to knock those bolts in instead of the hammer you used. He'll say you left hammer marks on the bolts.

On behalf of Exit Security, thanks for making the video. I normally don't use a hammer. I just tighten until the square shank cuts the door skin. If it won't, then I hit it. But that's not in the instructions. Step 6, tighten the flange nuts securely and then put a drop or two of Steel Grip between the nuts and the bar and it will wick in. After a few seconds, roll the bar 1/4 turn so the bolts are sticking up and down and put one or two drops between the nut and bolt and it will wick into the threads. Then flip the bar again and do the other side so there is Steel Grip on all nuts and bolts.

You can get them from any locksmith shop or supplier. They are just the extra long L hooks for a security bar.
