There is a store in the US that specializes in this type of equipment. The Amish and menenite communities only use wood fired stoves to cook on. All of their tools are hand operated. Old time butter churns, slicers , milkcans, lanterns ,etc.

That's quite a stove, Shawn ! It's a real gem, even got a bread proofer on it ! Looks like something right out of the 1930s or 40s ❤ My Great Grandmother had a stove like this ! I remember when I was 4 yr old we went to her farm. She cooked up a storm for us for Christmas. cooked us Cakes, cookies, bread, pies, turkey, and a bunch more ! took us at least an hr to get in the door because she had the stove going all day. It froze the doors shut from frozen ice. Took 4 big strong men to open the door ! Must have been -20c that night ! But man, oh man, it was worth it when we sat down to eat 😂 The farm has been sold now, and they built Ottawa Airport there ! 😢 But that old stove had some stories behind it ❤ Mike.

OOooo, the stove brings back memories. We had a kitchen stove much like that. It was a Kalamazoo of much the same design. It got retired in the early 60's. It cooked a lot of meals, canned a lot of food, and baked a lot of bread, and made a million memories. Thanks for waking them up for me. I did have some sweat watching you with those guillotine sheets of tin again. Noticed the safety rope too Shawn, SMART!! That is looking REALLY good now. Where is the orangutan in your linage that allows you to scramble the beams like that?? LOL Great video sir, thank you very much for educating us all. I thank you for all your work and effort here. I’d make some shutters from clear poly panels for the big openings….at least to the sides of that gorgeous wood stove to keep blowing rain and snow off of it. Plus, it can help extend the comfort for more of the year by reducing wind. The clear poly helps keep the nice open feeling and light.

My grandmother cooked on a stove like that all of her life. She had a big steel water tank that had pipes running through the back of her cooking stove. It heated the water for the whole house. Her life was kind of like Shawn Jame is making his life. She and my grandpa lived on a 100-acre farm in the mountains of western North Carolina. They didn't own a car or a television You either walked to town or rode the old gray horse that they plowed the fields with. I like your video, Shawn.

My late grandfather was an antique dealer, he didn't have a store, more of a traveling antique entrepreneur! And one of his hottest items were old antique wood stoves and wood furnaces! He would restore them...I'm talking complete restorations! New nickel plating, paint every last minute detail! It's a very fond memory being with him and seeing these old stoves and furnaces become just as, if not more beautiful then when new! And not all, but most were sold to people that would actually put them back to their intended use. Some were bought for display/ art. Nevertheless, great memories and awesome pieces of our history! 🇨🇦🇺🇲💯✌

It also had a huge water heating cast iron water reservoir tank built to the right side of the oven to heat our water with. I’d love to have that stove now in the shape it was when I was growing up. But as all things greedy family members sold it as well as my grandmothers mountain home & her land after she passed. Mmmmm the Delicious meals that we ate made on that stove brings back so many fond and adorable memories to me From 55+ years ago!!! It's amazing what one generation to another can change everything. My wife probably has never even seen those stoves in use. Hello Shawn. Big fan of your channel. My husband and I are living a similar lifestyle in Alaska. Just wanted to give you a trick to install metal roofing. We call it the Chris Razink method, since it was a colleague of ours from the State Parks who showed us this, we have been used it ever since on several houses and outbuildings. You screw a 2 by at the end of your roof rafters. On this, you screw another 2 by, but sticking up 2 inches higher than your base. You then created a ledge which you can use not only to install a ladder where the feet would rest on that ledge and you can stand on, but your metal roofing sheet as well, creating a perfect line up at the bottom and extending 1.5 inches passed the rafters. Will take pic tomorrow, worth a 1000 words. Keep up the good work and enjoy life.

The cook stove reminds me a lot of Mom’s on the homestead in Alaska. Hers was cast iron all on top but edged in a ribbon like border of narrow black with patterned dark cream inside the black borders.. She didn’t have the door for the warming rack so I think it was broken during shipping but the bakers rack was functional. You’ve really made considerable progress❣️❣️

That stove is so pretty. It reminds me of my grandma's stove except not so fancy and used kerosene as fuel. Your home is starting to look so....homey!
