Hi Shawn, quick tip for you when using baking paper to line a bowl. If you quickly scrunch it up into a ball, open it, and scrunch it up again, it will then conform to any shape you put it in. So it will fit right in that bowl without popping out. Great video. Enjoy your new cook stove.

Very solid looking stove. You will love that oven as you have already learned. Next thing we know, you will be baking cakes and cookies! I grew up with a wood cook stove on our farm in Kentucky in the 50's. It was a bit bigger than this, had a warming oven above the cooking surface where one could usually find something to snack on and a reservoir on the side which the kids were responsible for filling every night.

I almost had the same oven in the place I lived before and I loved it and still miss it. I never had better chicken wings and other crispy stuff. Also cooking on wood is something very special. My stove model had what we call a “water ship,” a kind of bain marie, a pot integrated into the side of the stove with a connection to the water pipe. This means you always have several liters of hot water available. Another addition is the water pocket, also with a connection to the water pipe. A closed system with internal hot water also integrated into the stove. A type of boiler with a water pump that allows one or two radiators to be connected in the adjacent rooms.

Shawn this might be the best episode ever. The new stove is outstanding, Excellent choice of the stove for the cabin. In 1967 I went up to Thompson Michigan with my grandparents the man that had the cabin it was name Stahl cook breakfast on the stove, which was Wood, fired, bacon and eggs, and all the rest, but it was a similar stove to what you are cooking on now, I can still taste it. I just love for a long time your KZbin channel I watch. Emily is also love her channel. This was exciting because it reminded me of breakfast morning in Thompson Michigan. looks like Calie is slowing down a bit ❤ Shawn use oil on the bench instead of flour, it keeps the floor cleaner and stops criters comming in . It's also better for the wood. Flour dries out the wood and makes it splinter. I was a Baker for 25yr. I know these things. you only need a little bit. Mike.

Yes! My La Nordica is the PITTS! I used it for just over two years and was cleaning it two months ago and noticed the boiler has a hole! Discovered it was no longer under warranty but there is ‘0’ customers service anyway. It was a huge financial investment and my only source of heat here in cold wet NW Europe. I couldn’t get it hot enough for baking bread (due to boiler I guess). Ok for warming stuff. I DON’T recommend La Nordica products. Peace🙏

This episode reminded me of when my Mom would make homemade rolls and tell us we couldn't run in the kitchen out the back door while they were settling back in the 70's. Those rolls were so good I wish I knew how to make them; it was a receipt she was taught by my grandmother. Likely similar only smallish balls of dough placed in the pan in a grid pattern, four across in the standard sized pan, put a little butter on those and you knew what bread was meant to taste like! Already watch the Shawn James episode so I'll leave this one to the cook stove side of things. Looks like a great choice.

You will love it! We looked at the Nordica stoves a lot but decided to go with the Regina cookstove. It’s super versatile and heats our house wonderfully. Congrats!
