@Old School Auto Upholstery Techniques Impressive work! Can you tell me how long and wide staples you use as well as how thick? Thank you in advance!
@oldschoolautoupholstery3 жыл бұрын
Hello, the staples I use are 1/2 inch crown with a length of 3/8 or 5/16 Thanks for asking!

what is this contact adhesive that you use please :) I can see now once you remove the old one you have the perfect outline for each piece. What about when you dont have the item there to take apart and have to build it from scratch, like your intro video seat that was bare metal. Is velcro good for areas that drastic of a direction change? instead of trimming off excess in case it comes off or something is it better to pull it and staple at the ends of it and then if have to cut it off later for a repair you have more material to staple again or will that make it sit to loose since its stapled to far up
@oldschoolautoupholstery2 жыл бұрын
Any contact adhesive from a hardware store should do nicely. I usually trim off any excess after to staples.

I think the best way is to put the cover in the sun first, make the install easy
@oldschoolautoupholstery2 жыл бұрын
Sure, the best way if all you have is a lot of time waiting for the sun to heat it up, then only in the summertime, impossible during the winter. Then remember it will cool off as you're working on it. Then what are you going to do? put it back out in the sun again for another hour? Trust me on this one. Just use a heat gun. Get it done!

do you measure each new piece you get and keep them measurements in a spot so you have all that info for the next cx
@oldschoolautoupholstery2 жыл бұрын
I don't do that. I make each cover one at a time for each customer. I stopped keeping patterns decades ago. The work I do is different every day. Almost never the same thing twice even in a year.

Hi, Watch the video again as there is a banner on the wall with my name and web address. As a matter of fact, all my videos have the same thing. Promoting my business is not so important to me as I know my only customers will be local East Texans. If you really wanted to go through the trouble, you would have to get the seat to me. Why do you have your table top cut that way where you set when you sew? Why is it set up that way?
@oldschoolautoupholstery Жыл бұрын
Hello Feyton, I have the cut out so I can "See down the barrel" in line with the needle. I can scoot my body closer to the needle and have the table to support and guide the material towards the sewing machine. Thanks for watching!

Don't like how the strap covers the sea Doo logo and in my opinion you put the strap on a little too tight.
