Idk why I always get that nostalgic feeling whenever I see those orange lights ever since they got replaced in my neighborhood

That's a nice little install. Those arms a known for being pretty weak but in this install it's okay. Should probably get that block attached because I see it falling out on its own and the arm ripping off. It might be worth looking for a utility-grade arm but those are usually 4ft or longer. Regarding the lens, the way you had it at 59:57 was what I consider correct. These lenses are always loose in the door including the 1960s ones but when you close it the lens presses against the gasket keeping everything in place.
@humanhuman1773 Жыл бұрын
I use satellite dish arms for my short mounts. They are very sturdy.
@JordanU7 ай бұрын
I never did get around to securing the block and thus far it hasn't budged. I don't particularly like this configuration and will not be using it on any other fixtures.
@apfanco Жыл бұрын
59:57 was actually correct. the lens will always be a little bit loose and the gasket will keep it pushed down when the fixture is shut

There’s still some sodium street lights in my town but most of them are dead/dying and the power company for my province has started getting rid of sodium street lights in my town, so all I will see is led.

I once worked for a sub contractor to our electric company relamping street lights in a bucket truck. One resident walked up to me and said he would tip me anything to change an HPS fixture in front of his house back to Mercury Vapor. He just liked the cooler tone at night and I actually agreed with him! Unfortunately I was unable to grant his wish for reasons beyond my control.
@JordanU9 ай бұрын
I find the mercury vapor lights very interesting, but I'm not particularly fond of the cooler color for outdoor lighting. It seems to depend on when you grew up, the sodium had already taken over by my time.

@@JordanU Same. By the time I started there, MV ballasts and fixtures had ceased being manufactured for a few years even though I still replaced the bulbs circa 2014.

Alternating current in this case isn't really polarity sensitive, it would be theoretically incorrect to have the terminals reversed but it would still work.

@@sneevegastv7606 They absolutely will change it to LED sooner or later, and they'll probably increase the charge for it too, even though it's supposed to draw less power which should cost them less to operate.
