Been at this line of work for 30 plus years. As in most machining cases, seeing other's setups and thought processes can be the most valuable experience. This really helped with some concerns I’ve had.

When it came back from the line hone were the bores round and to size as you expected?, I’m asking because I’ve had a big block and a small block line honed by two different shops and neither one was done correctly the first time, after I sent them back they were usable after the second honing, albeit still not perfect, but needed .005” shorter timing chains! You look to do excellent work so I’m interested in your opinion on the line honing procedure!

Line hone jobs have worked out for me in the past with on problems... Hope you find a machine shop that will do a good job for you..

@@Myersmetalworks I’m a retired machinist and believe me that can be a problem when trying to find a competent machine shop that does high quality performance machining.

Awesome Job sir , I think the only thing too make it better would be spayed caps but then again the regular conversion is plenty strong enough. Good video sir

that would be a good idea on a 2 bolt small block. i would think on a factory 4 bolt 350 you could just get the steel replacement with straight bolts and it be plenty strong for street use if you did the center 3 since it seems like those are always the ones that break.
@noahdunaway7 ай бұрын
@@KingJT80 I’m a BBC only guy but I agree with you on a 350 plus I would use studs instead of bolts.

Brilliant job !! You definitely saved your self a whole load of dollars doing alot of the work yourself. A line hone is way cheaper and trues everything up perfectly. Awesome work !!!!

I was wondering how deep you were able to drill into the block for the new bolt holes? You mentioned the oil galleries were not to far into the block journal.
@Myersmetalworks3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike... Its been around two years since that job was done... So I'm not sure... I think the blue print I used may have come from Grumpy's performance garage. You could look them up and see... lots of good info their too.... Hope this helped...

Hello. If you sandwiched the old cap and the new cap together and then bored it, how did you end up with the new cap . 005" under?
@Myersmetalworks4 жыл бұрын
Hi. You don't have to bore it out all the way... The two caps bored together is to make them match fairly close and not have a large mismatch step the line hone mandrel stones would hit while honing the housing bore to factory spec... Thanks

Been thinking about doing this to mine. Is this something you do for $$$ or just your own? Also how does the costs compare to just finding another 4-Bolt block? Thanks.
@Myersmetalworks11 ай бұрын
Just work on my own engines and its just for fun.... Finding a 4 bolt block might be the best.... But I dont know what a machine shop would charge either?

everything you did here is wrong. You need too line bore the main caps to size them properly. This is just not how it is done.
