Installing Debian Linux on my Dell Latitude D520 (after many trials and tribulations)

A side effect of this project was that I learned how best to bypass my college's device limit on their wifi network
(Also apologies for the audio quality - I need to find a better option than the mic in my iPhone 5S, and I forgot to apply gain boost in post)

Debian living up to its Universal Operating System moniker :D As for Wi-Fi, a quick search reveals that the D520 has a Broadcom WLAN adapter, and that was... notoriously hard to get going even back then. Sadly, memories of troubleshooting w/ b43-fwcutter and wpa_supplicant has left me, heh. But basically, if the card shows up in `lspci -v`, you just need to install the proprietary firmware for it. "Just" being the load-bearing word here. :)

Well, in a fit of insomnia one night I was able to get Wi-Fi running (as demonstrated in my PSP Linux video). Thankfully it was as simple as it seemed :3

I have a dell machine of a similar vintage (A Dell Precision T5400 from 2007) that has a really similar BIOS, and I believe the enable numlock on boot is located under the "POST Behavior" section of the bios. I don't have the machine powered on right this moment so I'm going off memory (from going through the bios the other day, i always refresh myself on all the options every time i use it after i haven't for a while)
