Awesome! I was just getting ready to install a new courtesy light kit I have from American Autowire. I picked up 2 new switches from Classic Industries because my truck did not come factory equipped with courtesy lights. The kit even has 2 bulb sockets that can be screwed to the bottom edge of the dash for floor lighting. Where can I get some of those wire clips???

@mmoraga86. > It is April 2020 now, but unless you find a company that specializes in vintage vehicle fasteners, that maybe one source. Otherwise, our bone yard chain in Omaha, has an online vehicle search feature. These types of “Pinch-Weld” clips or edge clips can be found on GM trucks during the late 60’s into the 70’s. It was a common method used to hold a couple of wires under the dash. As a word of caution, wear gloves and use a medium sized flat blade screwdriver. They have little barbs on the edge, but place the flat tip between the painted part and clip, then pop up with your hand. You may look under the hood of many imports up along the windshield and find a similar type but perhaps plastic. Be less aggressive removing these as they could break. A trick i’ve used for years is tape, if wires for others items are already there. The difference is, I place a dab of black weatherstrip adhesive on the last 1/2” or so, then roll on. This will keep it from un-raveling over time. If you get it on you fingers, carb spray or acetone will help clean if off w/rag. Hope this helps! Old retired tech.

@@deankay4434 Thanks for the reply. Good idea on the black weather strip adhesive to keep the tape from unraveling. I started using adhesive lined heat shrink to seal the ends of whatever I wrap around wires. The tricky part is remembering to put the heat shrink on BEFORE I start wrapping things up. 😁

Is this similar for 78 K10? All I have is the courtesy light under dash for the floor and there is no dome light in there? I don't know if this truck was equipped with a dome light but looks like there is 2 screw holes above the mirror in-between the visors that could have been the dome light at 1 time.

Not sure but on the 67-72 c10 the dome light is on the same position as shown in the video

Would be great if you showed how to run the wires from the dome light to each door switch. My truck does not have a dome light so I have to start from scratch

@Sergio Anguilar >If you have a olde GM truck, the plunger type light switch uses white wire for ground, tap into it. Many truck have a door made of a double skin, but be careful as they are 5/16” apart in the middle, but deeper at the back-center where a dome goes. If you buy a surface mount dome light w/two screws would be best, but to run wires in a pickup is not bad. With the seat moved and folded forward, the inner cab corner is open all the way up to that sweet spot. Locate, mark mount holes, then locate & mark where the wires have to exist. Use a length of rubber fuel hose cut to expose the first 1/4” (7mm) of the drill bit showing. Use this as a pilot, go slow and you will hear the drill motors noise change before it goes thru. Use a “Uni-Bit” or stepped bit and tape it for depth. Once holes drilled, orange is hot to brake switch (Hot All the a Time), while white supplies you ground. Please use a rubber grommet sold at home improvement stores, buy dielectric grease to aid installing but on connectors as well. I prefer soldering & shrink tube every time. Use a hard wire like MIG wire or home improvement stores sell cheap spool of wire for re-bar tying in the concrete components department. Cut it long, fish it in first, fold end over both wires, tape with electrical or masking tape. Now, gently guide and pull the wire thru, then make you light connection. (Soldier & Shrink Tube) Run the wire under the carpet with the sill plate removed. Tie wires to current harness and make connections. A simple test light to ground, will show power at brake switch or hot in-used fuse block spot, but hook test light to hot (B+) will show ground. The rotary know on GM headlight switches control dash bulb brightness, but a contact at full rotation contacts the white wire to ground, allowing for manual control as well.
