An easy start for cutting holes for outlets and switches is to use an I.D./credit card. It's damn near the same size as a nail in box.

You have developed some skill, nice. Switch and outlet box cutouts are always difficult. One technique I have tried is to deliberately under size the hole and when you hold the panel in place, you can see through the hole to mark the additional trimming for a near-perfect fit.

That is a good idea! Seems like the cut is always just a little off.

Thank you for watching! Drywall seems like a skill that will take a lot of practice.

The *matching Red & Black lumber jack flannels* had to give u guys a boost of confidence.😂 I know they did for viewers. Well done, thanks for documenting it clearly & posting it. I’m About to tackle the same job with my son, who hates dust. Should be fun.

Funny thing! I showed up at his house and he was wearing the same shirt. Not planned at all. This job is not too bad. But has lots of dust.

I've done too much drywall work for a lifetime. I don't care to do any more. I would hire it out from here on.

I am planning on doing sheetrock in my next 20x30 building and after that I dont think I want to do it again. Not much fun.

In commercial use buildings (with many forklifts, pump jacks & dollys moving around) we would temp/hang ply wood over the sheet rock all around the garage doors. (Just one 4’ sheet high with an X pattern of 5 screws) just because the rock gets crushed/cracked so easily & so often around the doors. But plywood was not 50 bucks a sheet back then 😂

Is there any way u could make a quick checklist of the tools mid etc that's required

@sethcraftworkshop Жыл бұрын
Thank you. I forget the exact number of sheets but somewhere around 12.

Thanks for posting! What did you guys use to make the gap from the floor to the drywall?
@sethcraftworkshop Жыл бұрын
We used a shim of wood to keep the gap.

Multiple thin layers of mud is the rule! It's easy to add more mud but sanding off excess, is a royal pain in the a$$!
@sethcraftworkshop Жыл бұрын
Because the homeowner needed to start using the building we made this part fast. I am sure we could have taken more time and made it look some better.

Those sheetrock squares never seem to be perfect. Always best to make a couple marks on the sheetrock. This allows you to get a perfect 90 degree cut.

Good tip. This was my first attempt at sheetrock.

I can't say you even did an average job on the mudding and taping. I see all kinds of bumps. It takes years of trial and error to get good at it. It helps to have a pro guide you if possible.

After spending a few hours on this I can see that it takes years of practice to make it nice.
