How do you know what size strut to buy?

Normally for a box it's the n80 size

You are supposed to take off the hatch and weigh it. That gives you an idea what weight (power) to get.

Never worked for me, ended up having Holes everywhere.

Sorry to hear that. Depending on the size and weight of your lids you will need different size struts. I had found a calculator online to tell me what I needed. If I find it again I will link it here.
