The helical gears will give you more contact patch between the gears than a straight cut gear. It’s not a lot but it does make a difference. And the chrome/moly is quite a bit better metal.

Ya, saw that, didn’t take very long either. Guess you’ll have to switch up to the 8s gears.

My xmaxx sounded like that and it was one of the spider gear bars in the center diff that broke
@RCKnockout3 жыл бұрын
My center diff so far hasn’t had any issues…..it usually seems to be differential gear or spur gear
@DeRock4012 жыл бұрын
If you run big power (like aftermarket motor and esc) a metal diff cover for the front and rear will really save your diffs!! Wouldn’t hurt to do it for stock motor too it’s good protection.
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
I do have the alloy diff covers on one of my Xmaxxs….have you had any issues? I’ve always been kinda worried that the metal cover will make the bulkheads more prone to breaking
@DeRock4012 жыл бұрын
@RC Knockout no. I am running mod 1.5 gears so the metal cover is really necessary! It’s only been a few weeks so I can’t really say for sure how it strains the bulkhead or not.

Spiral cut gears aren’t necessarily stronger, spiral gears are little quieter when they mesh.. great for road cars, that’s why race transmissions sound so much louder and whine as they’re straight cut, I think the hardened steel will help a lot too.. 10:46 is probably the main cause of the pinion/crown failure.. it’ll flex the plastic under load, Great vid btw the xmaxx looks awesome for tearing up 👌
