Thanks for taking the time to answer. I guessed there was a reason, I'll check out the full video and no doubt it will be self explanitory. Can't be easy working with those big tiles, almost a two man job!

No worries mate! The full video isn't released, But if there's interest I'll finish it up and put it out.. It'll just be about an hour long lol. Yeah every other job for me atm is 1.2 metre tiles, Ha.. It definitely takes it toll on my body!

How do you guys waterproof on the other side of the pond? At 0:39 what's preventing water from seeping up and around that shower pan and behind the tile? Is it just the thinset? Some thinsets I'd trust, I like Mapei's ultraflex LFT but not sure I'd trust it to be waterproof. In the US we'd tape up the joints and paint on a few layers of waterproofing cement or plastic to seal everything up just in case. Nice video thanks

It all just depends on the job really Chris, Like that one there has CT1 (which is a waterproof bonding sealant) in the areas where there is no tape, as it's an enclosed shower. But then in situations where more water would be exposed, You'd go more hardcore with the tanking like this one..kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJDEcoivZ9qGlcksi=xa07baRsjFgA5jLA

Hi Lovely work btw, is there any reason you didn't use a full tile in the first row of the side wall? (adjacent to the window) The first tile you cut down a bit, but can't see what the reason for this was, other than maybe having a larger piece the other end?

Hey, Thanks! It's a great question and something I explain in the full video of this bathroom. It was just to long so I went for the short version.. On the main shower wall. You can see white upright lines, This was the centre and roughly a full tile. That is where I was going to take it from. But after setting out the window wall, to work nicely around the windows I changed it. That's because I worked out If I start with a 900 (90cm) cut (The size of the shower tray) A. It marinates with he window wall making it look like a full tile is wrapping around the corner and B I could use my 900 cutter rather than setting up the 1.2 cutter. As the 900 joint runs up the shower screen I decided you wouldn't see any real difference there. So that was kind of the theory behind the change of plan. Then on the basin wall (With the Taps) I again continued the tile around the wall, As a full tile worked out badly on the taps. So again it looks like the 1.2 tile wraps around the wall. Bit long winded but I hope that answers your question mate.

Doesnt look like theres any water proofing done? Am i missing something or is the wall sheets water proof ?

Yes, Backerboard is a waterproof substrate

I don’t think you’re supposed to trowel both the wall and the tile. Back butter one and trowel the other. And the trowel lines are not straight, so they can’t collapse correctly.
@thebespokebloke7 ай бұрын
@@zurkram With Large Format Tiles, you won't get a good enough connection with just flat back edging., As large tiles are very concaved,. So getting coverage is more important than the "collapsing spill" When using extremely large tiles. Getting a good bond is key!
