Amazing video! Today I bought a used episode Slash LP and it is pretty good especially at the price I got it at. I did think the first thing I might upgrade is the tuners. This helped a ton.

Love my EB Hibrid strings...used to love Dean Markley, but they were constantly sent brand new in package completely rusted. Most of the problems with strings are the manufacturer (china) screwing up quality on name brands.

Switching out the tuners on my Gretsch 6120 Eddie Cochran model to these Kluson Revolution locking tuners. Hear you on the Slinky strings. Never could get close to them.

Grover makes locking tuners with vintage keystones too. The Grover 533 NK. But these look solid because they're expensive.

I bought the same 3 pack off Amazon cause that's what I've used for years and I believe they were somehow fake or factory 2nd's if that's a thing. Bought a single pack from the local music store and it was all back to normal

There is a video on KZbin about fake name brand strings. I hope I haven't bought any fakes but couldn't tell. So from now on I'm looking for more reputable actually guitar store Ebay sellers. I'm pretty sure most are real but I got 4 sets of Fender light Bass strings for $18 yrs ago. Haven't use them yet, just was a deal I couldn't pass up. Bass don't get a lot of use and don't change those very much anyways. So could be fakes. 16 Bass strings for $18 just sounds wrong. Or cheap.

300k liner taper pot's react better and smoother in adjustment from 1~10 and have a warmer tone ( not so bright ) and with the vintage MHS pickups I wanted to compliment them as they are not hot. It sounds absolutely amazing!! My friends that can play very good Love it! Back in the day they used 300k in a few models. Thanks for your support 🙏

sweet guitar - does it matter in which order you install these on either side? is there a a L1, L2, L3 etc?

Yep like all 3x3 there is left and right but all eyelets are the same.

Late to the thread but would like to know if the manufacturer's marking has any significance? I installed on my 339 using stock press in bushings & screws. I am assuming any 3 on L or R is acceptable w/o regards to the markings?

My epiphone les Paul only has one screw hole for each peg and my new tuners have 2 ports for the screws. Best way to drill the holes for the extra screw? Assuming I can’t just screw it in

Don't just screw them in! You can or will split the headstock. Take a drill bit just a little smaller than the screw. Place it next to the screw. Take a marker or tape and Mark the depth of the screw on the drill bit. Then place your turner on and mount one screw to set the placement. Then drill the other hole till the mark reaches the tuner . Then Install the screw until it stops. Then just a light snug 1/4 turn or you can strip it.

thanks for sharing.. i have some lose screw on the back of the tuners. do you have an easy solution?

Dip toothpicks in wood glue and stuff them into the screw holes and trim them off flush. When they dry, re-drill the holes with #4 size holes.

@@ThatGuitarGuysChannel I have done it... I have not used toothpicks because the holes were too big, I used some toothpicks that women use for nails I think are thicker. I sanded them down a bit to the right size, I have smeared them with titebone and I have put the kluson revolution. perfect result. I have also changed my seymour duncan jb from the bridge for a 59. The change is incredible, the 59 is much better.

Yeah but you will have to add a second hole as they are kluson style. They make one with the single screw grover style as well.

So both screw holes were already there from original Grovers?

From the original kluson, these are grover style locking tuners that fit the double hole kluson. Grover tuners only have one screw at the bottom. Therefore if you use a grover then you will see the top screw hole and imprint of the kluson. So these have the same footprint as a vintage kluson but have the tuning machines like a grover.

Serious question. Have you always thought of Ernie Ball strings as trash? Is it possible you got a batch of fake scammer strings? I got a few sets from a store once that were just awful, and it turns out the store bought a ton of fake strings off of Amazon I believe. If it wasn't Amazon it was a different internet source.

I bought them from eBay. I thought I would try them and bought two three packs. I was told to try the pink ones, but I got such a bad experience with the green I am good!

@@ThatGuitarGuysChannel Are they legitimate Ernie Ball strings, though? I've had the gross fake ones and they're barely qualified to be strung on those $40 K-Mart acoustics. I use Ernie Ball and several other brands. I blow through strings like crazy though. I put 16 hours a day in on guitar so I change them several times a week. I buy in bulk at low prices when I can find the deals, and as long as it's one of the few brands that I like I'm fine with it. I've never like GHS though.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky Pinks (9-42) are the greatest strings ever made, in my opinion. Decades of gigging, and no matter what strings that I try, I always go back to the EB Pinks. Dunlop, Fender, EVH, Gibson, GHS, D’Addario, Dean Markley, and more that I’ve forgotten, just don’t have the longevity and feel of EB Pinks. But there are a billion and a half string manufacturers for people that like different strings for their own reasons.

Well... It is important to let Gibson know that, after having paid more than 2,000.00 dollars for a Les Paul, their tuning machines (the original ones that arrive with the instrument) are not doing the best job and very often must be replaced....

I been playing guitar for over 40 years. I have never used anything but ernie ball strings. I buy mine at the local music store in town. I've never ordered strings online. I saw a video on KZbin about the Chinese fake knock off ernie ball strings. The video shows the difference between the strings and the packaging of the fakes. If you ordered those strings online and they are junk then you obviously bought the fake ragged ass Chinese version of the string. Go to a credible music store and buy some real ernie ball strings and I promise you will like the real ones. I don't put anything but ernie ball on my Les Paul or my strat.
