Thanks for vid but transitions are important and very necessary unfortunately because of expansion and sometimes shrinkage. The more you put in the safer your install is. Its called a floating floor. 26 years trade qualified floor covering finisher. Pls seek out a tradesman dont waist your money with a poor install. Ps vinyl planks (pvc) are now vastly more superior and can take more moisture than engineered timbers.

Iv noticed very little expansion gap left against tiles and against walls. Flooring can expand by 10 mm That is 12mm flooring. 6 mm flooring has less expansion. So it's important to leave plenty of gap. Also people buy expensive oak doors that are very heavy. And if you have cut the bottom of door frame. When the heavy door is fitted after some time the door frame goes out of alignment. Hence not allowing the door to close properly, or it's scraping on the flooring. Expansion gap is very very important.. 12mm flooring can expand by 10mm.. Iv been fitting flooring for 16 years now.. Laminate and real wood flooring parquet flooring.. you Sir have definitely done a very nice job. Respect..

The way the flooring was wedged under the door jam clearly defeats any point in leaving room for expansion doesn’t it? I think it is best to watch manufacture videos rather than the mr doityourself ones. It’s the little mistakes that spoil thousands of dollars plus your labor trying to save dollars which makes no sense.

Jose, can you please help me. I layed vinyl click at home. Subfloor is OSB with thin hard 1.5mm vinyl foam. Next day in the middle of room a big air bubble appeared under vinyl. I have expansion space all around the room and the vinyl did not move toward walls. Its just lifted itselfe as an air pocket. Why?

1: clearly couldn’t slide it under the first time 2: you could have just cut the beginning of long board and added it to the small one you had in place at first, the cuts would have looked way cleaner, don’t forget you can always beat it under more, don’t cut more then you have too, and if anything cut the door trim more with a dremal.

Here is how I do it. I take two small pieces (that I use to protect the fragile tab when I’m pounding in the pieces) and place one on each side of the undercut jam. The gap between them is an exact fit. Leaving them in place, but up the piece that will go around the jam and mark it at the gap with a felt tip pen. Then I cut just outside my marks with a utility knife cutting away from the corners of the cut and snap the piece out (or cut it out with a jigsaw if necessary). That results in a perfect fit.

Yes, you can start from the hallway with the side where more doors. Precut all boards slide under door frames and then follow installation in the living room.

Hey, how can I install laminate flooring around steal door frames? The door frames are all the way down to the concrete slab. With wooden door frames I usually cut the bottom to fit the laminate plank.

Using a scrap piece as a tapping block is nice you dont have to buy the $10 block you can use 10 that to buy a 6 pack of decent beer for the job. What about a pull bar for your last piece in the corner? Whats your method?
