I got one of these about a month ago. Easy set up. I like the timer control, I set it for an hour when I’m done in the shop. Really helps

I see that you posted this some time ago. Was curious to know if you are still using it and if you recommend it?

These units come with pretty average Chinese filters, i would suggest when you look for replacement filters you google, Camfil or American Air filters for replacement you will get a much better quality filter for probably the same price.

I bought 2 of the larger WEN units that produce up to ~1400 cfm on the high setting. I installed one over my table saw / bandsaw / miter station area and the other one over my CNC and sanding station. They work well but are a little louder than I had hoped. I do like the timer feature. I usually leave one or both of the units running for an hour after I finish for the day to clear out any remaining airborne dust. Also, I could not install my units the way Travis did...holding it in one hand while hooking the chains with the other. My units are heavier but also, I am not as strong as Travis 💪🏋️. I used a chain hoist instead which worked well. Thanks for the excellent video.

You clearly did some research on this. I have been thinking about working on my shop filtration and this might just be the kick I needed to up my filtration game! Maybe I’ll post a video on my channel about my shop soon. Keep up the good work! I know the time it takes to edit the videos. It does not go unnoticed.

Hola!🖐I thought that I was current on all the videos on your channel but somehow I missed this one. Now that I'm "researching" dust collection and air filtration, I come across this one. So cool to see your early content, but with very a relevant topic even today. There is much debate about a unit like what you have here and producing one with a box fan and filters. Would you be interested and researching/studying this topic and sharing your findings in a video? Especially now that you have the benefit of a larger shop, have grown through more than one shop, and the knowledge by using this system for a while now. Your channel has grown a lot since this video and I believe a lot of it has to do with your credibility. What I mean is that you really dig deep into the subject matter you discuss and present, "just the facts" (a la Joe Friday - Dragnet). Thanks in advance for at least considering it. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊

How/why did you decide to put the system in centre of garage? I’m reading other write-ups that suggest it should be approx 12” away from on of your walls and approx 1/3 distance along that wall. Thoughts? Tks

I was amazed how many companies sell this identical shop filtration system. Same box, same remote, same filters, same everything except the logo sticker and price. I like WEN products but at the time, it wasn't the least expensive so I ended up with an Arksen. I probably can slap a WEN logo sticker on it and nobody will be able to tell the difference.

Box fan with a Merv 15 filter and a remote: $40. Which blows about 4x the air.
@airdaff4973 Жыл бұрын
Mine slowly quit working. Sometimes it would turn on by itself and run all night. The remote started working intermittently and now nothing works. When I contact wen they just say "well the remote is to not interfere with other signals. . So I'm assuming someone's garage door opener is causing my stuff to not work and turn on whenever it feels like. Worked great up until it quit working. Only had it a year or so. I'd shop around a bit.

From your video I decided just to buy the unit rather than build a homemade filter. Didn't know you needed to filter in the two stages.

Anyone know if you could use like an activated charcoal prefilter to filter out any odors or VOC's from finishes?

How does the performance hold up after the filters are used for a few months? Big CFM drop?

How did you decide which direction to point the system? I just bought a system over the weekend and can't find anyone mentioning directionality. Location yes, but nothing on direction.

Ya think the 1000cfm unit in a smaller shop would clean that much more? Lol my shop is around 275sq ft.

I’ve been using my jet filter for a while. I can honestly say I have seen no difference in the small dust particles around my shop. Now I’m sure it’s working, the filter shows dust particles. But at the end of the day I’d rather have my $500 back.

I got basically the same thing (although with a plastic enclosure) from Rutlands in the UK for £110 delivered. Seems to blow a lot of air. I haven't installed it in workshop yet.

Thanks for the video. I am seriously considering doing some air filtration in my garage shop. If anything to keep my wife from complaining about the dust. Question: How often do you have to change the filters and are they a standard size or do you have to get Wen filters?
@felixreali71015 жыл бұрын
would it help if you channelled the air out of your workshop after it passes through the unit? that way you won't have the issue of breathing in those particles that stay airborne? or does that defeat the purpose of the machine?
@ShopNation5 жыл бұрын
Not the worst idea but yes you would then just be pulling in air from outside rather than recycling internal air. Lot of work

Hi Travis, Thank you for the upload. very informative. Quick question....did you notice and change in smell? As in, did the filter take away any smells in the shop? I have a large shed that is sealed, but I do practically everything in it and its got that epoxy scent to it that i'd like to eliminate.
@ShopNation4 жыл бұрын
I haven’t tested it for that but my guess would be that it would not have an effect on smells

Did you have to hang the hooks to a joist or did you just screw into drywall?

Looks like he did it on line with other hangers which means they are in a stud . Defiantly don't want to put just in dry wall

@@ShopNation Hell, for 100 bucks, it's worth it. I work out of my garage as well, and now my 2 year old son has started wanting to play outside (which sometimes involves coming into the garage when I have the outside door open, so this is a no-brainer for me. Even if it only picks up 10% of the particles in the air, that's still 10% less that the family risks inhaling.
