We replaced our RV step rugs that lasted 5 years with fitted rugs that are made out of quality materials. I also share my thoughts about steps that fold under the trailer like the steps I have and the steps that fold up and into the inside of a trailer. Feel free to share your thoughts on what steps you like and why.

Here is a comment a follower wrote on a FB page after seeing my video post:
"I haven’t watched your video yet, but I used to have the fold under steps on my fifth wheel and always wanted the lift up steps. Then I got them on my Rockwood and I sure miss my fold under steps! 1.) I hate that so much dirt and possibly bugs that are inside the hollow frame are now inside my RV! We even take the air compressor and blow them out, but I still don’t have peace of mind about it. 2.) Even with the legs at the shortest, we still have had times where they were too long and we couldn’t close our door. Then we had to raise up the tires even though we were level. Such a hassle! They are not all that we thought they would be for sure!"
These are the RV Step Covers I installed in the video:

I'm pretty sure these are the step rugs I removed in the video that lasted 5 years:

I love the fold up solid steps on my 2109 Mini Lite. The new ones actually flip the steps over so the debris falls off before you lift it up into the door.

@@ronpearson1790 That's pretty neat, I've never seen steps that do that. Do you know what steps you have so I can check them out? Thanks for watching and commenting

@@thetraveltrailerguy My steps are the standard solid steps that don't fold. They are made by MOR/ryde. The whole step just folds up into the door way. Fortunately the 2109 sits lower than other Mini Lites because the main floor is between the wheel well and only needs 2 steps where other Mini Lites require 3 steps because those floors are above the wheel well.

Thanks for making the video! I thought I'd be installing the solid style steps almost immediately after buying our TT, I'm not a big fan of the "diving board" effect you get with the factory step. It wasn't a priority mod so I waited and saw some complaints coming in about the solid style with closing the door. After more waiting and considering pros/cons of the solid type vs. fold in steps, I'm sticking with the fold in's. Adding step covers was on my list and after watching the video I ordered the same ones from Amazon. Thanks!

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I wasn't notified of your comment and just saw it now. Thank you for watching and commenting on my videos, its appreciated. The fold up steps work a lot better than the fold up steps would work for me in so many situations. www.youtube.com/@thetraveltrailerguy/videos

Our Rockwood 5th wheel came with the MORryde steps with the strut-assist but the ball studs broke. I had an opportunity to get a set of the newer Torklift Glowstep Revolution Uprising steps and I wouldn’t go back. I use a small whisk brush to sweep them clean before putting them away. I’ve used an old towel to wipe them dry if we’re packing up in the rain and I just leave the towel under the stored steps to catch any drips. The concern about dirt and water getting in the trailer is overblown IMHO. It’s not an issue for me. The biggest disadvantage to the solid drawbridge style steps is the clearance needed to put them out. The accordion style Torklift steps solve that problem. For manufacturers, having steps that store in the door gives them a lot of flexibility with floor plans since they can now design to have the door above the axles.

Thanks for watching and your comments :) A few people have mentioned the Torklift steps like you have and really like them a lot, I checked out a few videos on them and really like how they work. Who knows I may just order some in the future and if I do I'll put out a video on it :) Thanks so much for watching
