I am always telling people building a PC isn't scary. The only parts you need to be really careful with is putting in the CPU and CPU cooler as well as avoiding screws or water being on the motherboard. And as you can see, I am right.

Reminds me of the day me and a friend built a pc. The CPU was not perfect in place and we wondered why the cpu cooler won't fit. Resulting in a bend pin.. Luckily, everything still worked after we bend it back. That was a nightmare.

Yes but to the inexperienced these kind of “what happens if we…” videos are intriguing, most likely bc they don’t have access to a motherboard that they are willing to do this kind of shit to, or just don’t have a computer and are interested in learning more. And this can easily happen to someone building their first pc if not careful. Get used to seeing videos u find stupid that’s all shit is now

I did this mistake when I first tried to install a RAM 14 years ago. The moment I turned on my machine, it stopped responding and when I tried to touch ram after turning off everything, it was too hot. I knew that I was screwed. It burned the RAM, and some capacitors of the motherboard. A nice neighbour, fixed it. The amount I had to spend was a lot at that time.

I have shorted and burned ram and board in the past, you can definitely damage things if the ram goes in just the right amount. Was DDR2 with a slightly different notch but I wouldn't assume it's safe with newer generations

I'm in school for IT. One time one of the computers wasn't booting. Our teacher decided to see if we could fix it. After opening the pc we quickly realised that the ram wasn't in fully and was backwards. After fixing that it posted right away

I'm a retired Tech I got a call once from a customer saying his system won't run. I get there it turns out he's trying to do an upgrade and it won't run he stuck the ram in backwards I don't know how he didn't kill the board but I flipped it and poof it was alive.

I bought a pre-built, had 4 ram slots and 2 were being used. (I do video editing so I need a lot of ram). I put the 2 other ram sticks in, it still posted since the other ones were in correctly. However it started to smell like smoke and a little bit of smoke was coming off so I panicked and turned it off, I watched some videos on PCs and that is when I learned about how to check that. I fixed it and it posted all 4 slots at the speeds that they said it would and it has been working perfectly fine since
