In this video I will show you how I prepare and shingle a roof, and install Class A, insulated chimneys on my brick oven and wood-fired BBQ. I use insulated DuraVent Chimney Pipe made by the DuraTech Company. After the Installation, I fire up the ovens and check the exterior temperature of the chimney pipe with an infrared thermometer.

I love how you keep saying you’re not a professional and yet this looks like one of the most expertly and painstakingly planned and built structures I’ve seen. Amazing work and looking forward to seeing the final result!

I just completed this project yesterday. I got the roof on and it now looks very much similar to this build. I'm happy with the project it was a lot of work and now it is complete. I do have a concern and will explain. in a word WIND. I am going to tie down this structure with 3/8 cable wire and provide ground anchors under the slab pouring new 2 foot cement forms under the slab and embed anchors there and then run cable wire up to the ridge beam by way of 6X6 posts trying to hide the wire in the posts. If a high enough wind sweeps through, this structure could act as a sail and blow the roof off and I want to ensure that does not happen. I thought I'd add my comments. The build itself is otherwise solid and attractive.

Love how this is coming out. By far your videos in this series is the most informative I’ve seen. Great work from a fellow long islander. I’m planning on building an outdoor kitchen with an Argentine BBQ. I’m planning on doing one for myself (go to school on the first one) and then build one with my little brother for his yard. Looking forward to the spring.

Thanks for the detail in the videos. I live in North Jersey and will be using your details to build my oven this spring. Gonna spent the winter getting all the brick, cutting the half pieces and getting ready to ramp up when the weather breaks. Thanks for the details, so this doesn't look so daunting. Stay sharp Strong Island!

Be careful with infrared thermometers. They don't do well on shiny surfaces they will give you incorrect temps sometimes (reflection of another surface like a mirror).....Pro chef of 18 years and food safety inspector of the last 10. Great video.

On stainless steel chimney or any stove pipe, crimps always face down. This keeps moisture inside the pipe. Looks like this one was put in upside down.

i noticed you are using a pneumatic nailer for the shingles. What size nail did you use? Love your work. Modeling one after yours since i have an outdoor kitchen with an adobe pizza oven and an Argentine parrilla. thanks for your videos.

With my home made pizza oven I know it's getting up to temp when the black smoke is gone from the sides and top of the oven (inside) and when the smoke is very , very light coming out of the top of the chimney. ( the oven eats 99 % of the smoke before it leave the chimney.) I give about another hour after that. also it's important not to start with a big fire but build the fire over hours of time. this keep the oven from expanding to fast. Good luck.
@NikosDIY

A doudle wall insulataed chimney also keeps the temp of the smoke high, which helps the draft of the chimney alongside with the overall height. Also, the ceramic fiber blanket you used to insulate the pizza oven can be used around the chimney to provent the wood from catching fire.

Just thought I'd say this, but if you fall through that roof, it's probably Armageddon!LOL That things like Fort Knox, I'm betting you could put a car on each side of the roof, and you still wouldn't fall through. I'm getting ready to start a Pavillion, at first it'll be used for working under it when it rains out. Eventually 9nce I get the house built, I'm going to build a brick pizza oven, and then I'll make a Fire Place and then eventually make it into a three season Pavillion. I'm also looking at a garage timber frame to match.
