Good job Ben. That tubing bender is the best. I have a style like that I use for refrigeration and have used for break lines. One more step closer to being done. Stay safe and be well.

Awesome video as always Ben. I do have a concern regarding the radiator tho. I recommend you notch the frame rails on either side of it. The reason being is that if you get any chassis flex at all, the twisting forces will crack the aluminum welds on the radiator wide open. This is why you see most radiators only bolted from the top mounts and effectively floating in the bottom mounts, sometimes with rubber bushings to counter vibrations etc.

Use rivnuts on the panel to fix the radiatorthen you can bolt from inside the engine bay, way easier

The two small hoses on the lower radiator hose go to the oil cooler. The simplest solution to your radiator hose issue would be to get a good welder to swap the inlet and outlet nipples to the opposite sides for you. We do that kind of stuff all the time in the race car world. As for the brakes, that tubing bender won't bend 3/16" tube so you'll need a different one for the brake lines. The 1996-2004 Cobra front calipers will bolt right on with the proper caliper brackets.

Ben, I suggest for the top radiator mounts you made to weld in a nut from the outside part (where the bolt head is right now), and the bolt go in from the engine bay outward to make it serviceable and easy to remove in case needed rather than removing the front grill to get the bolt out. and also; fill your brake lines with sand when bending them so they stay round and true.

You should really consider some taps so instead of running bolts completely through stuff you can tap the metal and run a bolt like factory, also I see genuine excitement and happiness in your eyes about this car. I’m excited for this build!

Always clean aluminium with acetone before welding! Using a wire wheel will just scuff it up and probably add contaminants from the wire wheel too it. So you need to clean it afterwards. Especially on a Rad where you’ll get porosity causing tiny little water leaks!

Make yourself a v tuned stencil for the front of that radiator so when you paint it you will have a custom v tuned rad 👍

Enjoying the content, Ben. Thanks. Nice fabrication skills. One question though, the top rad mounts aren't you going to encounter aluminium/steel corrosion? Because the bolts which I'm guessing are steel are touching the aluminium brackets. You'll get corrosion because the metals aren't compatible together I'm sure I read that somewhere. Good work though!

Custom rad hoses!!!! Get some pipe and get it bent at exhaust shop then just take about 3” of rubber hose to connect ends! Then chrome them up or powder coat!!!

You have to make a shelf fore the tank to sit on have to put rubber mount under it steel will rub a hole right through them aluminum tanks just a thought making grate progress on the vcd cafe

Not to be to critical, because its not my build, but personally if I had room I would have done a rail for it to sit in some rubber mounts on the bottom. A removeable rail with rubber mounts up top. That way if you need to replace it can do so with welding brackets. A new one just drops in. The rad is still enclosed with rubber, but won't crack or possibly leak at the welds. Just kind of sandwiched in between the mounts. Just me though. In case it gets damaged on the road it would be a hard fix. Not super likely, but a little work now will save a bunch down the road. Just my 2 cents worth.

Try keep taping the trigger for the welding on aluminum. It’s really hard to use that mig set up to weld aluminum. So your tack welding your tack welds you can always try to pull the wire as well your pushing it the same way you weld steel. But the welds don’t really look that bad all it has to do is hold.

Take a piece of your welding rod and bend it into the shape you need for that upper rad hose then take that to the parts store to find the hose(s) you will need.

I've read that you can use a MIG for aluminum but I've never seen it done before. I wouldn't say those welds are structural but for a rad support they are more than adequate. It did a pretty good job considering.
