Good job! I hope you do a video on the first time emptying the catch can to see what it catches.

These engines are already known to be actually very clean for being direct ejected!

Good job Justin. Will be interesting to see how much the can catches over time. I'm with you...should have at least provided some rudimentary instructions. Good thing we have KZbin! Lol

For $250, you would think it would have a spigot to drain it wherever you want. I would add a small hose and drain it at the gas station

@Justin are you still running this oil catch can on your Jeep? Can you give me a update. I just picked one up and having concerns with triggering cel.
@JustinKingOffroad4 жыл бұрын
I am not running this anymore. The CEL started coming on every restart. Mishimoto support was awesome about it but ultimately it's just not going to work on my Jeep at my elevation.
@spinrite14 жыл бұрын
@@JustinKingOffroadthanks for the reply Justin. So where I live in the Midwest plains it should be fine. The elevation here is only 240 metres in Winnipeg
@spinrite14 жыл бұрын
@@JustinKingOffroad I guess where mishimoto is based in Delaware elevation is 60 metres they never accounted for this altitude difference and JLs 2L turbo tight sensor tolerance. You live in area of Loveland Colorado is over 1500 meters

What's the difference between this $350 and $40 catch can on Amazon? One fourm member said they are same less bracket and hose
@JustinKingOffroad2 жыл бұрын
honestly not sure. they could be functionally the same.

Great video! Do you prefer the 2.0L over the 3.6?
@JustinKingOffroad5 жыл бұрын
so far the 2.0 has outperformed my expectations. aside from it sounding like a vacuum cleaner... it's awesome! even on 35s and stock gears.

I've driven about 7k miles since the catch can install. It was bone dry when I checked it the other day. Is that what others are seeing?
@spinrite14 жыл бұрын
Hi John, are you sure it's installed right? It's gotta be catching something according to mishimotos testing on their site they catched enough oil in the can after 10 000 miles
@Razgris064 жыл бұрын
Have you noticed a change in your engine characteristics with the Catch Can installed? I installed the same catch can on my JL 2.0L, but my engine seems to be running harder than w/o the Can. It feels like it takes more effort to get up to speed, my MPG has gone down by 2-3 mpg, and it went from smooth shifts to more labored and delayed shifting. Any ideas?
@JustinKingOffroad4 жыл бұрын
i did not notice anything like that, very interesting. however my CEL started coming on and staying on after every time i'd clear it. mishimoto is trying to get jeep to work with them but these 2.0 engine tolerances are super tight, especially on the sensor this affects. so for now i have the can unhooked just so i don't have to look at the light all the time.
@ajphillipsjeeps Жыл бұрын
Did this ever get addressed? Looking at one but do not need codes popping up.
@JustinKingOffroad Жыл бұрын
i don't think it's a fixable issue. the sensors are so finicky on the 2.0 that it's gonna trigger a warning. now one thing you could do, have HP tuners unlock the PCM and go in and disable the code's ability to light up the CEL. i think you can disable that trouble code all together.
@ajphillipsjeeps Жыл бұрын
@Justin King I have one from them for my JT 3.6 but was looking at it for the wifes 2.0 but sounds like this engine runs pretty clean and does not like the catch can from what I can see. Thanks for the info.

Any update? Have you had any check engine lights?
@JustinKingOffroad4 жыл бұрын
so actually yes the CEL started coming on every restart. it's a known issue with how crazily sensitive the sensor is on the 2.0 turbo. for now the kit is unhooked in hopes that jeep and mishimoto can work together to keep it from illuminating. it seems fine to drive with the light on, did a whole weekend above treeline (11,000 feet here) with it no issue. but it's annoying to see it on.

@JustinKingOffroad5 жыл бұрын
i am actually working with them right now on why the check engine light is coming on at altitude. however, the engine is still new enough that nothing much is blowing by. but with the miles comes more wear. hoping we can keep the CEL off by next summer!

Justin King I’m trying to decide if I should get one for my 3.6L
@JustinKingOffroad5 жыл бұрын
there is no issue on the 3.6 to my knowledge. it's the super tight tolerances on the 2.0 sensor that throw the CEL.
