How to Install the Mishimoto Catch Can in the Jeep JL

UPDATE! in the video where you run the longer and shorter hoses to the catch can. It was pointed out to me that the longer hose goes into the fitting labeled "in" and the shorter hose plugs into the fitting labled "out."

Do you need one? no, you do not. A catch can only helps keep excess oil out of your cylinders. Now your engine is designed to burn off the excess oil. My goal with this is to keep the engine running happier, longer. This should keep my spark plugs running longer as well. We will see how it runs long term. Thanks for watching.

Actually you do need a catch can because jeep just released a TSB for spark knock caused by oil coming through the PCV and into the intake. The repair is an updated PCV and to remove the heads and clean the cylinders. I would put a catch can on just to prevent this.

Exactly, my new 2023 JLUR knock as hell and I’m not interested to tear down the cylinder head and factory sealed remove, also cleaning the cylinders not gonna solve the problem and it will come back, catch can is the best idea

I've got this on the 2.0 turbo and am actually doing product testing for mishimoto... this product keeps throwing check engine lights above 5000 feet. I think they're close to a resolution, but for now, if you get a P2C90 code, it appears you can just keep driving without incident. I have about 1500 miles on my can with the CEL coming on at random. I keep clearing it, and it keeps on chugging.

Alright, so I'm just learning about the differences between PI/DI carbon build up - somebody help me out. Aren't these 3.6 engines using port injection? If so doesn't that make the catch can useless since the port injectors are cleaning the intake valves on every intake stroke? I was actually just about to buy the Mishimoto can for a JL - seems like a really useful device for keeping DI engines cleaner longer, but I really don't want to drop $200+ on this system just to "feel better". Is this actually doing anything? Genuinely curious. I want to make an informed purchase here.

I just got back from Moab. I ran Hells Revenge and was climbing out of Mickey's hot tub when my JL decided it was going to become a fog machine.. about then I remembered your video on the catch can..guess what the first thing I installed when we got home.. I had a different catch can for awhile but the fitting that attached to the crank case leaked and took out my O2 sensor. The Mishimoto quality is definitely better. Thanks for the video 6months after the fact lol.

Same happened to my UPR!!! Waste of money.. thought it was just mine but guess others had that issue.. smelled oil for a while till I realized it was the fitting for the hose at the crankcase end and put it back to stock.. definitely gonna look into getting this can

U don’t have to unscrew this to empty it for 1... risking dropping it and dumping a can full of oil on ur alternator... the can on this one is aluminum... just wish the drain valve was

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't your connection in the catch can swapped...shouldn't the IN port be coming from the passenger side hose and the OUT port be connected to top left side of the engine?
