A video demonstrating that the idea of fitting a sports design bumper as fitted to the Porsche Boxster/Cayman GTS models isn't quite as easy as it seems!
The sport design package can be specified on just about any Porsche model as part of the configuration, e.g. 718, 992 or even the Cayenne.
On the 981 this is available retrospectively through the the Porsche Techequipment range which you can purchase from your nearest OPC or alternatively at Suncoast in the USA or Design911 in the UK, other retailers are available.
Part number for cars without park assist/headlight cleaning 981 044 800 80.
tequipment-fin...
I bought the parts featured in this video separately and in this video take you through the bumper removal and installation processes.
Thanks for watching

Wow, what a project! I used to have a 2006 boxster S and traded it in for 2015 Boxster GTS. The GTS look is fantastic, both the front facia and rear diffuser are different from the regular Boxster and so much more aggressive. You will enjoy the new look. By the way, my GTS is Carmine Red and i think the guards red is nicer. Greetings from Ontario, Canada. Spring is on its way, cant wait to take the car out for a drive!

Hats off to your persistence!! The GTS styling is much nicer than standard. I think the shame with the Base Cayman and the S is the awful round DRLs in the front bumper. Probably the only thing on the car I would call awful!! I’d be interested to know the total cost of the parts, but then again I always think that the ‘worth’ of a mod is subjective… like my 718 steering wheel upgrade to my 981 which was about £1,300… but I just love it!

Honestly, the original look looks pretty good, so it doesn't appear worth all the effort (and expense I am sure) to me to make that change in my humble opinion. If the original look did not look as good as it did, then absolutely. Bottom line, I am going to stick with the original look and add a skirt on the bottom and mesh to the grills. $120 and 2 hours or so of labor. Thank you Sir for sharing and for your effort with this!

Thanks Simon glad you liked it. This video should make it easier for anyone else, you can save a lot of time and effort by covering the gap instead of the middle radiator route. @@EvoElise yes I made adjustments afterwards, like any vehicle if you change something adjustments are required to fine tune. You don't often notice the alignment in the midst of the excitement. Anyway, I have a 2015 Boxster S which the day after I got back from the British Isles, a tree blew down on and in front of me while driving in a storm. I'm replacing the complete front bumper assembly (via insurance) and am strongly considering going back with the GTS front. The work will be done by the only Porsche certified repair facility in my area, and they are really good (they also race in the Carrera Cup series (ACI Racing)). Would it be an imposition to ask you if you have the part numbers you ended up buying? I'm only using the OEM Porsche parts in the repair (pay extra on my insurance premium for this). The GTS cars tend to be later models so the gap like for like we'll specified S is generally around £10-12k any more and the seller is asking too much. The S holds its value very well too and a well specified one is where the smart money goes. Absolute bargain! Adding the main external sports design package bits can be done for £2.5k with paint. To be honest the front is the important bit, the rear end isn't expensive and the differences are minor. My spoiler and lights are from the Spyder not the GTS.

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a Boxster GTS and I'm looking to have the front bumper repainted due to stone chips. Whilst it's apart, I want to replace the black trims, as they're stone chipped too, so they're past their best. I'm struggling to find out which parts I need exactly. Obviously I already have all the parts, but from the diagram it's not clear which parts I'm going to need to swap for new as they're exposed. Porsche have sent me a list of quite a few parts, but I don't think I'll need them all. Would you be able to offer any advice please? I know I will need the two side retaining frames. And the front middle spoiler. I think I will then need a part which looks like the mustache along the bottom, and perhaps the mouth in the middle. They've also given me the part number for a trim piece that looks to go underneath, and another part which seems to go in behind the middle part of the bumper. Again, I'm not sure if I need that, and it's quite expensive. Would appreciate any advice, before I start pulling my bumper apart just to look for which parts to replace.

Hi, I would get the centre strip, frames left and right that hold the light housings, the major centre piece is quite expensive but if you want it looking perfect you'll probably need it.

You have 3 options, 1. Do it without any of the bits that side behind the bumper and fill it with mesh or Zunsport grills. 2. Copy my approach or 3. Install everything including the centre radiator. Anyone who tells you that you need the radiator isn't well informed. I totally appreciate the enjoyment you get from making these cosmetic mods. However, at the end it's still an S. With all the cash you've spent it seems you could have bought a GTS or Spyder and got all the cosmetic and mechanical upgrades without the hassle of building it yourself .
@TDS981
@TDS981 2 жыл бұрын
Hello thanks for your comment, I can assure you that I spent significantly less than what it would have cost to swap into a GTS, let alone a Spyder. Ultimately my goal is to add cars to the channel and worst case everything I've done is reversible. I do like the idea of a Spyder, the 3.8 with a manual does appeal but I'd then again the long gearing is a problem for me and fixing that problem has a large cost implication, I don't have a huge desire to swap into a GTS because it doesn't really offer anything different. I'm proud of what I've achieved, I've definitely enhanced and created something a little different.
