I just got my voswitch in today. I have a 2021 sport. Wondering about the fuse, I want to install diode dynamic ss3 ditch lights. The specs are Voltage Range: 9-16V Current Draw (amps @ 12.8V): 2.7A, Wattage: 36W. Wondering what amp do I need? is 5 amp fuse good enough or should i go higher? Thank you! Love your videos and crosstrek build!

If you Google what amp fuse you need you can find a conversion. I've never ran those lights, so I'm not comfortable saying what fuse to use. Best to look it up.

Voswitch just came in for my 21 trek. Super excited to see it in action, but what number fuse did you tap?

Great video dude! So funny as I was considering a similar mod very soon, except I was thinking of going full on custom fab for a relay / power distribution box. I hadn't heard of this brand or unit before. Others I was looking at were super $$$$ hence the leaning towards custom fab. This one's not too bad price wise. Now I'm rethinking the whole thing LOL. Thanks for the idea and looking forward to seeing what you hook up to that bad boy!

Haha, such is everything with off road mods, it's a pit, lol! Custom fab setups are always good since you know exactly what you have, but I would defiantly consider the Voswitch for the ease of it all. And their customer service is awesome :)

I finally got one but im trying to find a way to mount it on passenger side since there's empty space on it and driver's side is too crowded to look at. Im considering to mount it on my SSD Performance tower brace but I don't think it is a good idea. Still looking a way to mount it with makeshift brackets and platforms. Any idea?

This is pretty cool. I have a 2021 Crosstrek limited and looking to install some lights. I’m just scared to mess with electrical stuff. Also have ARB on board air compressor that I want put in.

Oh I totally understand that. That is actually one of the benefits of using a system like Voswitch. You connect it to an empty fuse port via a jumper fuse, the positive, and negative on the battery, and that's it. Since it has its own fuses and relays, the chances of blowing the jumper fuse is pretty slim, and it won't mess with your cars electrical at all.

How do you like that STi bar? Worth the money? Noticeable difference?
@TheAdventureZombie3 жыл бұрын
I really like it, but as for performance, I'm not sure. My 2014 had one on it since it was new, and I also got it on my '21 brand new, so I've never driven a Crosstrek without one.

Have you considered a wireless control unit? I'm looking at one under 100$ and the remote is the size of a credit card. Might just velcro it somewhere.
@TheAdventureZombie4 жыл бұрын
I had considered that, but with any wireless unit, that opens you up to possible interference. Also this Voswitch unit has its own fuses, relays, and breaker so you don't have to worry about your vehicles electrical system. Since I have a 2021, not voiding the warranty is a big concern of mine. However in the right application I think a wireless unit can be pretty awesome :)

I actually grabbed a cheapy one from AliExpress and I'm running it on my 2019 XV/Crosstrek. It's switching my (IPF Pod) lights fine and although I'd rather have a physical switch, the law here prohibits that (this is a grey-zone workaround). I think if you're powering a few, low-powered, LED lights it would be fine, but if you have a shit-tonne of accessories then a unit like the Voswitch would be better.

Do you place both positive n negative wiring into the control module?
@TheAdventureZombie3 жыл бұрын
From the auxiliary item you run the positive up to the switch box, and ground the negative to a convenient location on the body of the car somewhere. That way you don't have to run both wires. I hope this helps!

Good videos, but maybe get a better mic for when you're standing away from the camera. Have my volume all the way up.
@TheAdventureZombie4 жыл бұрын
I have been looking into a mic, sorry about the low volume, I'll try to compensate with the volume levels on my next videos until I get a proper mic. I appreciate the feedback.

Fantastic video, thank you for being so thorough with all the steps! Thanks also to Tom the Dilettante for sending me over here. Just got my 21 Sport and I’m loving it so far. I was going to try a setup like Tom’s, but this seems more my noob speed. My goal is to turn my trek into an adventure vehicle in the summer and a volunteer snow rescue buggy in the winter. While I’m not sure if I’ll ever be pulling or pushing anyone out of situations, at the very least I can help folks stay safe and dry while waiting for help. Can’t wait to get started!

Np! And that's awesome, I'll have to tell Tom thank you :) Haha, I agree, I hate wiring! So this unit made it really easy :) That would be awesome! Good luck with the build! You'd be surprised how many people we've pulled out with our Treks (PNW Crosstreks group)
