I did the same upgrade last year. I travel with them attached. I attached a steel aircraft cable with a bolt snap to the fox landing and put an anchor on the diamond plate so I can pull everything tight when in the up position and not stress anything. To make sure nobody makes off with my expensive steps I used Torklift fastgun locks on the stow and go bracket that go through to the backside of the landing and then where the little cotter pins are I drilled those holes out larger and put fastgun locks in place of them.

Fastgun locks are a good idea.

Hmmm. Why can't you fold them up and stow them while your driving. I will say, at 6'3" and 260lbs the fox steps are narrow. I may give these a serious thought. J only live about 9 miles from tork lift in kent. I love my tork lift camper packer set up for setting my camper on. Get some lvl (laminated veneer lumber) instead of 2x6 lumber. Much stronger.

I don't want that much weight putting stress on the camper bumper or Fox Landing by traveling with them on the Fox Landing. There's been a few occasions I've seen where the little bracket has broken off the bumper. It's the bracket that the Fox Landing locking bar slides down into to keep the Fox Landing in the vertical position.
