The knurled round nut thing on the back of the hammer slides in or out, to set the tab reveal length for installing asphalt shingles. You hold the hammer flat on the previously laid shingle with that knurled nut touching the bottom edge of that shingle, then you slide the next shingle down from above until the shingle contacts the head of the hammer... that sets the reveal to be the same for every shingle.

Great job Tiffany and huge progress on the house. I've been tied up on projects out here so i haven't been able to catch up so i am watching all the past vids now. You can actually install your window flashing and install the windows if you like. Nothing really stopping you from doing that. Just make sure the windows that are weather facing are sealed good on the exterior. You can check with the code but you should also be able to spray window foam sealant around the windows after installation which is something the spray foam company will recommend you do. I would still consider an "oh sh*t /tornado/hurricane room" something like your closet if its going to be the typical walk in semi large room. You can build exactly what you did outside or trim it down just a tad. The master closet as a storm room has saved a few people over here. The entire house was wiped off the foundation except the master closet which is where they hid so it's just something to consider since you are in construction. You could also trim down like they did and have 2x6 every 12in with double 3/4 plywood on inside and outside. It might be more costly than the one you built but at least we know the one you built outside is approved by FEMA so just something to think about
