I was just shopping at GWT and decided to buy 2 pieces of UHMW just like you did because they were cheaper and wider which should wear slower. Doing the exact same thing. I have a milling machine with DRO so it will be cake. Nice job!

Having a milling machine to put the holes in is definitely sweet!!

I did this on my 60in plow blade and my Toro 28in snowblower with UHMW pads. Not sure why snowblowers don’t come with this from the factory. Quieter, smoother and no marks. Win win

I did this also to my 54" plow blade on my old tractor......so far it's working really nice.....haven't had to much snow where I'm at, so I haven't taken any new video footage.

skid shoes normally installed on the outside.

The snowblower was brand new with my tractor and came from the dealer that way and I just left it like that. Thank you for the info!

My 47 inch came with shoes on the inside also. I don't believe i would put them on the outside either. I have a tendency to get real close to stuff with the blower and feel the shoes would snag shit. Can't imagine the need to put them "out" anyway.

How did it turn out?

So far we haven't had very much snow where I live......pretty weird......usually we get pounding! It has worked really good so far.....I plan on doing a video when we get a decent snowfall and you can see how well it glides across the surface.

Have you tried just driving it around? Does it not scratch? Curious if it doesn't clear snow as well

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.....haven't been on youtube in awhile. Weird thing is, we haven't had to much snow this year.....pretty odd....usually we get hammered this time of year. So far the times I've used it, it did a nice job and did not scratch up the driveway. The stock metal blade does a great job but I hate seeing all the scratches when the snow melts. So, for now....so far so good!

@@TimsCNC-Tractors-and-more thanks. Yeah global warming murdered our winter as well, my blade is pretty bent so need a new one. Considering a poly one

Have you had a chance to use the snowblower yet since the mod? I'm planning the same thing and curious how it worked out for you. I've replaced the steel runners/shoes on the sides of my snowblower with UHMW and I'm happy with it. The shoes are meant to stick out slightly lower than scraper blade and serve as the primary bearing surface against the ground. For the scraper blade I'm wondering whether the UHMW would ride up over hard packed snow instead of cutting through it like the steel edge.

You are correct about the shoes on the blower unit......I ended up leaving the shoes above the blade surface and having the whole blade contact the ground and remove the snow. So far its worked really good....trouble is....we haven't had that much snow where I'm at.....pretty odd since we usually get pounding with snow! Once we get a decent snowfall and I can record it, I will do a update video!
