Exciting! Yes, my dream is to make a science/history video game based on Unreal Engine 5. Since my computer is a MacBook Pro, I was wondering if I could download Unreal Engine 5 from it. Video fully viewed.

hey! Was wondering what FPS I should expexct in a blank / template project on UE5 with Mac? (I have Macbook Air M1 with 16gb Ram). Unity is soooo much smoother than UE5

I've been using UnReal on my M1 8g Mac Mini for over a year. I wish I had more memory, but it doesn't prevent me from having open a web browser, Photoshop, and several social media apps at the same time. It's funny that the Unity Game engine, which is specifically ported for the M1 chip, is so much slower than the other apps on my Mac. I sense I do have the least viable set-up in the Apple line-up that supports UnReal.

I was going to get Unreal and use this/the Fortnite editor on my Mac, but so far my research has been telling me that I have to have a PC to use Unreal. Can I use unreal WITHOUT having to download any third party converter like this?
@lemapp3 ай бұрын
@@kaimitchell2954 It's not a Yes, and it's not a No, but a Maybe. For example, on the Epic Game's UE Marketplace, there are some 2950 plugins offered. You select MacOS and the number drops to 1333. This is a re-ocurring theme when you operate a Mac. My tiny M1 Mac mini runs circles around the $2,000 PC tower my roommate has. I can crank out an AI image in seconds. They take minutes. But I can't play the latest game because it wasn't ported to MacOS. Earlier today, I discovered Niagara Particles for UI. I can't use it. It's only compiled for Windows. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you meant by third party convertor. If you mean, a system emulator like SoftWindows, they sort of work but they slow everything down. Since there is a mac version of Unreal, there is certainly no direct advantage. I hope this helps.

@@kaimitchell2954 UEFN is currently Windows only as far as I know. You can install the full Unreal Engine on a Mac as shown in this video to build custom apps/games for MacOS and iOS, but this version can’t be used to build content into the Fortnite ecosystem.

Any idea why the raytracing option doesn't even appear on my setting projects ? I am on Unreal engine 5.5.0, M1 MAX
@shrimpkins23 күн бұрын
yes, it's not supported on mac yet; but i found a video of an architect who apparently got it working with this emulator called crossover [by codeweavers]. video is below, but tech support at crossover told me you still need a high-end machine to make it run, and he didn't know if there might be any glitches. luckily, the team at unreal is trying to get a mac version of raytracing [what they call path tracing] released soon, hopefully next year. by the way, if you buy crossover before midnight tonight, you can get a sizable cyber monday discount! and the good news is, you don't need to install windows at all. it doesn't work for everything, but not bad for the $22 discount price. if you don't decide to buy it today, you can do a 2-week free trial to see how you like it; but then no discount later. i'm getting a new M4 Pro tomorrow, so i don't know if it's gonna work on mine yet, but if you want, i'll keep you in the loop on what happens... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqLNdnqDe9CYpLM

Hi sir I’m working on a simple animation project in Unreal Engine 5.4. It’s a 10-15 minute documentary-style video for KZbin in 1080p, featuring MetaHumans and city life scenes. I’m sourcing assets from Sketchfab and will do color grading in DaVinci Resolve 19. Since I’m not creating games, I’m focused on keeping Unreal’s size small and optimizing performance for smoother viewport and faster rendering. Could you make a video covering all possible ways to optimize Unreal Engine for animation projects like mine? It would be incredibly helpful to learn how to manage MetaHumans, streamline rendering, and keep the project lightweight. Thanks so much in Advance.

Hmmm... only lets me download UE 4.27 on my M2. Any tips?

Not sure.. I have 5.5 installed on my M2 MBAir through launcher. Maybe uninstall launcher and start from a fresh install? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

@@PixelProf strange. Was there anything I needed to do with xcode in. the way of installing? There's an install button on the lead screen that I didn't see you click. Can't explain it.
@PixelProfАй бұрын
@@jrsoldano1444 Everything I did for the setup on my M2 is in this video. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to make sure you have the latest XCode updates applied (via Apple). In theory, once you've gotten as far as agreeing to the XCode license, there shouldn't need to be any additional installation steps on that side.

@@PixelProf Here's the answer. If you had previous versions of UE, you need to click the "+" button under Engine Versions to reveal newer versions. Thanks for the video!
