I can't think of a situation where this would be acceptable as a demonstration. This is one of those "do the project and hope no one sees it before we remodel", not "lets throw it on youtube for other people to recreate" xD.

No kidding!!! I mean I could understand if this was your first time doing it & attempting to do it yourself. But Jesus!! This guy posted it as a tutorial video!! Lmao.

Explain why you didn't just run the wire up into the attic or down into the basement/crawlspace and then across?
@jakekeeton83324 жыл бұрын
exactly what I am doing. i never even thought about cutting drywall aside from switch and mount
@beidlern4 жыл бұрын
Can't assume every home has a crawl space or attic access. I'm SOL, cutting would be the only way.
@edsgarage0014 жыл бұрын
@@beidlern fair enough, but it's far more likely to have a crawlspace/basement/attic, then to not.
@LucifersDeathSquad3 жыл бұрын
@@beidlern You can remove the molding at the floor and cut a small amount of drywall at the floor. Run your wire and reinstall the molding. This is only an option if no attic or basement access.

@@edsgarage001 not in tx. We don't have basement, never seen one . So its through the stud

Exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks

Also, using a right angle drill, you could have drilled holes in the studs and then cleaned up the drywall mess.
@lindakincaid45303 жыл бұрын
I agree, although this is one way of doing it, I've seen them use a drill that goes though the studs when they are putting in recessed lighting. who wants to patch a bunch of holes in a ceiling. what if you wanted to remove the cabinet the wiring is on the stud which I think is a bad idea. I think it should have gone though the studs.

2:42: "It's not the prettiest look..." to cut a channel in the drywall and then leave exposed non-metallic cable attached to the outer edge of framing members... additionally, I can't possibly imagine it meets code! Everything else in this video seems OK code-wise, but this is a pretty glaring error. Why not run the cable inside a nice straight surface-mounted raceway--which again would be behind a cabinet, so not visible?

I'm surprised you even advised to turn off the electricity.

Can you please tell me why would you cut that rectangular drywall cut? I have two outlets on the same wall. Each wall should have a wire going through as per the code
@adrianabarnard64022 жыл бұрын
Since there’s a switch the sconces have to be some how connected to work simultaneously
@sketchapp37835 жыл бұрын
you don't show how you anchor those metal boxes. How are they staying in place since you can't anchor to the studs, since it's in the middle?
@beidlern4 жыл бұрын
He did mentioned to use remodeling electric boxes. These have wing tabs that flare out on the back of the drywall. Similar to anchors.

"The homeowner isn't here to see this right now..." Also I don't understand why they didn't drill through all the studs to pass the wire at the proper depth...

What is the F is going on?? Cut a slot in the wall for wiring?? That is the LAZIEST shit I have seen. I cannot believe they not only did this, but posted it as it’s some sort of training tutorial!! Learn to fish wire or GTFO of that line of business.

Mike great job good video. I would like to install a light switch to a wall lamp, How?? This is a 100 year old house, with only one outlet n two wall lamps in every room. The Dinning n Living room has only one outlet. Living room has no lighting at all. Helpout??

A good electrician would not let the homeowner tell him how to wire this job. If this was inspected it would fail.
