I have been watching your videos for the last year. I am trying to get as much info and tips for doing the sheet metal on my 66 as possible. I'm not really looking forward to the Pandora's box that is lurking in my mustang, but i really want to save the old girl if i can. Thank you very much. (Question): Would coating the string in bee's wax help? Or would that possibly be a hindrance when trying to pull on the rope.

Is that a factory pink car, I know they had a Playboy pink that was given to the playmate of the year, and also a special order pink. Good grief man, you didn't even bother to seal the pinch weld before you roped the glass in. It's definitely going to leak.
@loosecannon71053 жыл бұрын
Glass seals are not pinch weld
@danfarris1353 жыл бұрын
He explained it all in the vid quite clearly. The only thing he is doing differently is adding the rope caulk/seal before laying the window in. In the old days we used a tube of windshield sealer in the weatherstripping groove. This is not the butyl/ urethane sealer that you know of today that cures. This old stuff is gooey and never sets up hard. Then after the window is in you go back around the gap of the body to window and fill it up with more gooey stuff. Hopefully at this point you did not forget to install all the trim clips on their posts before filling the gap! Then you put the trim on and clean off the excess sealer with WD40.
@RS-gh2mf3 жыл бұрын
@@loosecannon7105 no kidding LOL. What I was referring to is to run a bead of liquid butyl on the body, which is referred to the pinchweld first. Once the glass is in the gasket fits to tight to the clips to get enough sealer in afterwards.
@loosecannon71053 жыл бұрын
@@RS-gh2mf watch and learn/ pinch weld is a plastic trim with a metal section inside it to grip an edge - nothing to do with glass
