Word is Rangers soured on Kane because a) Asking price too high b) Concerns about the hip injury he's been playing through. Meier is supposedly looking for huge bucks on a long term deal, even too rich for the Rangers. Tarasenko should work out pretty well, and Mikkola is a solid 5-6 d-man with an edge. Blues got what they could, considering both players are pending UFA's. Blais never got untracked in NYC, maybe he can find his game again back in St. Louis.

Blais, was never the same after his injury.. Kane was asking for too much..The Rangers were not going to break up the Kid line.. The Rangers aren't done yet though..

Who are you saying was poison? If you mean Vlady, he was not poison in the locker room. After asking for a trade the Blues tried but at the time no one wanted to take the risk on him. Even Seattle could have had him for nothing but the questions about his shoulder stopped them. Then when training camp started he focused on playing, did not really talk about it and the media pretty much dropped it. He was still loved in the locker room from all reports. If he was poison man they kept that a huge secret for a long time. This was the Blues trying to get anything for him before the lost him for nothing. Going to miss him but I get the deal.

At some point it was going to fall apart for my Blues. They were one of the oldest teams in the league and Doug Armstrong has a track record for not replenishing the blue line with upper echelon talent. If this was the year to fall off? Well I think this rebuild will be rather quick to recover from. 2023 looks to have a draft class that rivals the infamous 2003 draft. If we could get one more 1st rounder out of ROR, that would go a long way. Also, isn’t the UFA class this year supposed to be pretty generous? With all the money coming off the books and a higher cap, it’s not too far fetched to think the Blues could bring in some new pieces. Just have to sell those FAs on the process.

He has some decent playmaking ability left but his wrist shot-his calling card-has declined dramatically in the last three years. He’s had so many prime scoring chances this year but his release just isn’t there anymore. I think both teams got exactly what they wanted in this trade but some rangers fans think this is 40 goal Tarasenko. It’s not.

Tarasenko requested a trade two seasons ago. This was already the plan in STL. Their young core of Thomas, Kyrou and Barbashev are locked in, so it looks like a sell off of O’Reilly is imminent. I think Blues want to enter to Bedard sweepstakes

Pretty solid analysis, aside from the brain fart near the end, but i think there is one question that I do not feel enough people are asking: how healthy is Tarasenko these days? He asked for a trade ever since asserting that the St. Louis' medical staff botched treatment after shoulder injuries. After playing on 24 games combined in 2019-20 and 2020-21, a bounce back season in 2021-22 with 32 goals and 82 points, but with 10 goals, 29 points and a minus-18 this season, he is either in the midst of a major sulk over being dissatisfied at not receiving a prompt trade after he had requested one following the injury, or there are lingering effects of a left-handed right wing having suffered a left shoulder injury. So let's put a pause on the Rangers' Stanley Cup victory parade until we find out if the Rangers got a star ready and waiting to shine again, or damaged goods.

He was the top scorer on the Blues last year which is since his last surgery. Not as hot so far this year, and has suffered minor injury. Well missing a few weeks isn't minor, but its not as major as his shoulder again. I think playing with his old friend Panarin will light a fire in him. (No doubt this helped him with waiving the NTC.) This trade will breath new life in him at least for the short term. The Rangers will see the better side of an aging Vova. Though even when he's been at his worst he was still a scoring threat that opponents had to respect. His worst was never that bad. Is he prime Vova Tarasenko? No. Is he still a serious scoring threat that will help the Rangers? I feel pretty certain of it. If he stays healthy I feel absolutely certain of it.

The problem is Vladi had a full NTC so he could have stopped any and every deal Army made. He liked NY so he pounced on the first round pick. Now he has 2-3 weeks to move Barbie, Accari and if he proves healthy ROR. You could have accumulated extra picks with maybe two in the first two in the third and maybe another couple of prospects. Remember Army isn’t scared to use prospects as trade assets. That worked well with Bokk and obviously Tage Thompson seems to be a stud but sometimes these guys help make the Blues land NHL ready talent now.

The bruins are the favourite but not every president winner goes on to win the cup. I have a feeling the bruins are going to win but anything can happen. Remember tampa and columbus in the first round 4 years ago? Columbus swept them and tampa was beyond stacked that year too. The regular season doesnt mean anything. Kane isn't right for us. He would unbalance things further than they are. We needed someone who would send the puck to the net (I really miss Vatrano) and we need some depth in defence, especially when you consider how much Lindy throws himself into harms way. I wouldn't be surprised if Lindy gets traded in the next off season.
