My mother is a Raleigh resident and brings me a box whenever she visits Jersey. I love these products and how they each punch you in the face with their flavor. They are never one note, but that first sip is always just "BAM!" straight in the taste-bud. One of my favorite uses for these coffee crystals is to make Cafe Freddos at home. Besides that, I use them during a long EMS shift to reset and refresh, and while traveling (I'm always confident I have the best cup of coffee in the airport). I love knowing more about this process so thanks for the video.

Your mom sounds like the best :) And thanks! We put a lot of time and effort into this product, so I'm glad you enjoy it - to power through your long shifts or a flavorful cup anytime. I agree - you can be confident you have the best coffee in the airport, though keep a lookout for a Black & White counter at the Raleigh-Durham airport... coming soon ;)

This is incredible! As a new roaster I had always wondered about how we might be able to make instant coffee in house. Super cool!
@roasterkat
@roasterkat Жыл бұрын
Thanks much! However, 0/10 would NOT recommend doing this in-house. It is a full time job for Dan, the machinery is really expensive, and (I haven’t seen the numbers but I’ve been told) it basically just breaks even. Not really a viable option for most small teams, I’m sorry to say. But it’s a fun creative outlet and passion project for B&W🤷🏼‍♀️ so it depends on your goals!

Awesome video! I work in a hospital, often long shifts and overnight, and I have learned to keep a pack of B&W instant in my bag pretty much at all times for when a second cup of coffee is needed. Cool to see Dan and all of the equipment he uses to allow me to have excellent coffee at my fingertips.

I had the B&W Julio Madrid Gesha as instant and it was probably the best instant I have ever had. It was significantly better than what some specialty shops serve as drip. B&W instant has totally changed the way I drink coffee when I need to travel light. @@roasterkat reduces the sediment and catches some of the oil, so a little more clean tasting. Also some tests show a higher extraction versus just a competition style basket (vst, ims, etc). How they would fit into the workflow and costs of making instant….. I guess that would have to be all figured if it’s something y’all see as a benefit to the operation & taste.

First of all, thank you so much for this video .. i really enjoyed and there much information I had learned. Second, I am very excited to test this product 😍 but the problem.. I am from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 I don’t know if the product can be shipping internationally to me or not . Third .. I have the same idea but not use the espresso, by using another preparing of coffee then transmit to powder coffee !😮 So now I learning about my idea and tested , maybe in future I’ll have company to do my product I see in your replies the machines is so expensive, but I will trying to do this at home 😅 maybe I will pay something do the same machine in video. Or if you can tell me name the machine for cooling and the another one for heating with out air Finally.. I hope my word in English is clear & understanding .

Glad you enjoyed the video! You can order it from BlackWhiteRoasters.com but shipping will be expensive. As far as the machines, I don’t recommend other people do this process because it is very expensive and not efficient/scalable. Man, the way he is skimming the oils out of the coffee is pre-ww2 era method, sailors and infantry cleaned bunker oil like that in Tunisia. You can find paper-like towels that are made for pharmaceutical/rocketry (i.e. super clean) processes that costs like half a cent each (if that), absorbs oils incredibly well, for a fraction of the time with less mess and are environmentally friendly. These towels are so old the children of the people who made the patents died of old age over half a century ago.

@roasterkat
@roasterkat Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! No coffee is lost during the instantizing process - just water. But yes, it is a very expensive process and we don't necessarily recommend other people try to replicate it. Black & White does it as a fun way to offer something we believe in, but it isn't a money maker - that's for sure!

I don’t understand your question. There is no process after this to recover aroma. The aroma molecules are “trapped” in the instant coffee.

@roasterkat
@roasterkat 9 ай бұрын
Not quite sure, unfortunately. It's a slow process and we're always trying to keep up especially as demand is higher than ever. As you might have seen on James Hoffmann's video, it takes a LOT of filter coffee/espresso to produce specialty instant, so our dryers are always running but even then it's not enough! Stay tuned though, it'll be in stock again.
