Wonderful showcase of the winter border Liz! It already looks absolutely brilliant, I think the dogwood is still my favourite but I can't wait to see this develop over time.

Glad to see you are feeling well again and have had some helping hands in your garden. Have been learning a lot from your videos, thank you and greetings from Switzerland. The weather here has been gray and cold for so long, can’t wait for spring to finally come and get outside again in the garden.

It's going to look great! Really interesting that the membrane will break down, hopefully the plants will be big and bushy themselves by then 😊
@LizZorab
@LizZorab Жыл бұрын
The membrane is corn starch based, no plastics and I hope that in three years the shrubs will be casting plenty of shade onto the ground and minimise weed growth - although the weeds in this field are all ferocious in their capacity to spread, so they may have crawled/grown over the membrane by then!

Thanks for great video, it’s so nice you are showing that patience will pay off and you don’t have to spend a fortune to create a garden. Love the idea of matting. The plant choice is wonderful and can just imagine the different fragrances throughout the year.

Hi nice to the guys came to help! The council planted Hypericum in our town and it's more weed than shrub as I have to pull it out everywhere as it likes to reseed prolifically, but it is pretty, just pesky ;- )

It's going to give you a lot of colour through the seasons, I remember when you did your moving videos and you had all those pots. Have you ever consider growing a compost border? filled with the likes of comfrey, borage, phacelia and lupins.
@LizZorab
@LizZorab Жыл бұрын
Compost border has been created on a larger scale (paddock size) in an area that I don't show on KZbin. About half of our land is off-limits to the camera, but I may show a section of it during the summer to demonstrate it.

Hi Liz, What a wonderful selection of plants. Looking forward to seeing this develop over time. I have a small bank at the front of our garden in our new home. It already has a few established shrubs, but there is still lots of spaces for more. Would you have a list of all the shrubs you have planted there please? I couldn’t write all the names down, well to be honest, half of them I’ve no idea how the are spelt! Many thanks x

Hi! I enjoy your videos and find them very informative. Being in the US, I have to ask a question about the UK. I just finished watching seasons 1 and 2 of Clarkson's Farm and wonder if there really are so many rules, restrictions, and different committees that have to give approval for any land use? I found the show amusing but I was just curious about how much of that was true. Thank you for your helpful videos!
@LizZorab
@LizZorab Жыл бұрын
It's all true, but bear in mind that the program is designed to entertain and not necessarily give a 100% accurate view of farm life. And he is not a farmer, but an entertainer.

I’ve taken a lazy person’s approach to cuttings as even when I try the ways other people successfully take them, something seems to go wrong (with a few exceptions like lavender). I cut lots of potential cuttings and stick in a pot of soil and hope for the best. If more than I need take, I’ll try find new homes for them, but I think I’ll be lucky to get one or two…

@@LizZorab I started cuttings off blackcurrants, redcurrant and white, plus red and green gooseberry plants 5 years ago. I thought this will take ages to get going. Now, they are between 3 and 5 ft tall. 180 ish in total. Last year, I got 67kg in fruit, 42kg the year before, so I am looking forward to seeing what this year does. 😄

It's the gardener's dilemma - time or money. I'm starting with smaller plant like you are, Liz. I just hope I live here long enough to see it come to fruition. That said I believe I've planted all the perennials, so it's just a matter of patience and filling in gaps that may develop. We're coming up on season 3 here @2catsfarm. Love your channel!

Dear Liz, I saw you in another KZbinr's video (and your Australorps). I came here to ask you where I could get some (we have a small new flock of birds in South Wales), but as I browsed through your channel & site I realised I found gold. Subscribed immediately to two of your channels. I'd still be interested in Australorps, also thinking about quail, and of we find an unused land or can do some projects on someone else's farm, a couple of dairy sheep... Do you have Australorps to sell or where would you yourself get them please? God bless, David
