I made this recipe today. I didn't have garlic powder, so I used onion powder. I also dabbled with a bit of Hidden Valley ranch powder dressing mix. The creamiest mashed potatoes I have ever made. Definitely yummy in my tummy..

This is my favorite “instant pot mashed potatoes” recipe. The only one I look for online!

This is the best recipe on KZbin for mashed potatoes in the pressure cooker. You give the weight of the potatoes and amount of water (3/4 of a cup ) so no draining is required. Other recipes don’t give exact amounts and require draining - in which case it is easier to cook potatoes on the stove in a saucepan! Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for this recipe!!! Also I only had 3/4 cup milk left in my fridge so I used it and I added some sour cream and used garlic salt instead of powder and it turned out AMAZINGGGGG

I used my Insta-pot for the very first time with your Mashed Potato Instructions. I love potatoes, and these are the very fastest and creamiest I've ever made! The Garlic makes them to die for!

I've found that an electric hand mixer with beater attachments works great for mashing potatoes too. Do not use a blender or food processor as it will result in a starchy gloop.

Yeah I use about a quarter of that milk and 2 sticks of butter (boiled with crushed garlic). That little bit of extra effort goes a LONG way.

How long does it take to heat up before it actually starts to cook? I need to have it timed out for Thanksgiving dinner
@ifoodreal4 жыл бұрын
Depends on a size of your IP. About 15-20 mins should be great! Use Keep warm too and mash right before serving. Easy-peasy!

If you double the potatoes do you double the water amount or keep it the same no matter how many pounds of potatoes are used?
@ifoodreal2 жыл бұрын
To double the recipe, double all of the recipe ingredients, except the water in 6 or 8 quart Instant Pot and use same cooking time.

just FYI people using potatoes other than Russet will need less water, i used 3.25 water and it became soup, so i had to put in more potatoes but other than that it was nice and creamy
@Keepingthehome3452 жыл бұрын
It’s supposed to be 3/4 cup of water. She misspoke.
@leahcheraux58682 жыл бұрын
If you cook it longer, would it be easier to mash? Just thinking loud.
@ifoodreal2 жыл бұрын
It is quite easy to mash as cooked per recipe but you can cook a few minutes longer, no problem!

Would this work just the same exactly doubled (to feed more people). Double potato and water but same cook time? Thank you!

Yes! I think you can get away with only 1 cup water.

You meant to say 'three quarter cup of water..' What you said was 'three and a quarter cup of water..' Which means 3+1/4 cup water..
@ifoodreal2 жыл бұрын
Sure 3/4 cup. There is a written recipe for accurate measurements. No problem. It is hard to control when saying things live especially in second language. That’s why printed recipes are best to cook from. Glad you enjoyed!

That's what I thought I heard, as well. However, she poured in a 3/4 cup measure.

You said ‘ three and a quarter cups of water’,. But the recipe states 3/4 cup of water. There’s a big difference.
