My buddy installed his on Tuesday, only took like 5 minutes and WoW. So responsive. Thanks for suggesting this upgrade. One of the best for the EV6 so far that anyone can do. Lovin' your channel

Hello Jeff Do you think this Shiftpower is compatible with EV6 AWD from Europe? Thanks for all your videos concerning EV6, very interesting 🙂

Hey - yes it should be. It should connect and adjust the throttle response the same way. And I'm glad they're helpful!

I'm an automotive engineer. This device looks really sketchy. It's basically intercepting and manipulating your pedal sensors and it's powered by a USB port?
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
No it doesn't get power from a USB port. It's just in line with the existing connectors. But yes it adjusts the output from the throttle position sensor. And it works very well. It's got a lot of good reviews too.

We just need to have something removed the limit on speed! Thanks for this Jeff
@TechnicallyJeff

YES! Hopefully soon a company will come out with something that does that and maybe increases kW output 😀

I would think you can just use Sport Mode and it does that it self. Normal mode for normal of course then Eco to limit throttle or Snow to limit low speed torque. Usually any signal interceptor or programmer like device will void parts of the warranty and you don't want that on an EV.
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
Sport definitely gives more throttle response, but it also makes it AWD 100% of the time, with no variation front/rear. This device can give you Sport mode throttle response in Normal mode, allowing the vehicle to not be in 100% AWD. It also gives much better response in Eco mode, which is RWD > 20 mph, which is better for efficiency. There's also the valet mode if anyone else needs to drive the car which is nice. As for warranties, all this does is change the throttle position interpreted by the ECU. Nothing else is changed. It essentially takes away the excess pedal travel. So if something breaks with this, it was already going to break without it if you floored it, for example. And in the USA a manufacturer has to prove a failure was caused by an aftermarket part.
@gxlbiscuit
@gxlbiscuit Жыл бұрын
why not just hit the drive mode button?
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
This lets you adjust the throttle response in each Drive mode. For example, eco mode is the only mode that switches the car to rwd. This lets you keep it in that mode for efficiency but have better throttle response. This also gives a lot more customization options.
@reakabb
@reakabb Жыл бұрын
What about the ipedal mode? In the original ev6 settings it has a very bad pedal response.
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
iPedal is just about regen. It doesn't impact the driving mode. You can still switch between Eco, Normal, and Sport. And with this, it allows you to further customize those as I've mentioned.

Would you recommend one of these for a RWD? I have a gt-line rwd but don't know if this will make a difference or not
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
It would make a difference but it wouldn't be quite as pronounced since yours is always RWD. So you can adjust with just the factory modes. That said, this offers a lot more adjustability. It also offers the valet mode and lockout features.

Hi Jeff I have an ev6 awd GT-line and I’m in Australia I recently went on a holiday with my family towing a JetSki through the hills I stoped at a 50kw public fast charger that I used multiple time before and this time the charger did only charge 10% and stoped charging it did start again for another 3% multiple times then stoped saying on charger failed this happened for over 2 hours do you think we may have heat problems all around the world with these cars when they get hot it only happens when I tow and never at home home is 7kw charger wall box ?
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff Жыл бұрын
Oh man that's rough. I haven't seen any issues at a public fast charger. Have you tried any other fast chargers. That one could have started having issues. The issue some people are having with heat causing charging to stop (or slow after people have had the TSB) is for level 2 chargers at home.
@SkaBob
@SkaBob Жыл бұрын
Here in the US there is an TSB for the Ioniq 5 because of an issue like this that causes charging to keep failing after a period of time. If the charge port gets to hot it stops the charging session, the fix is to update the computer system. Then if it gets hot it reduces the charging speed rather than stopping altogether. Maybe also check your charging port and make sure the terminals look good, not discolored or burned.
@TechnicallyJeff

Yep that's the one I was talking about, but Tony is talking about DC charging which I haven't seen issues reported.

Great review as always Jeff! Is it mandatory that the app be continuously connected to the device while driving, or can you just use the dash-mounted button to switch between any of the preset throttle modes?

Wait, so does this mean I can turn my awd ev6 into a rwd and have some fun ???
@TechnicallyJeff
@TechnicallyJeff 4 ай бұрын
Haha it just alters the throttle response. You could run it in eco mode which prioritizes RWD and have more throttle response, but you can't get sideways due to traction control. And if you turn off traction control, it enables awd.
