I think the Square is superior compositionally even to Instax Wide. I think you're the best Instax user!

Great review of this camera. I’d love it if Fuji made an Instax Square EVO. It would definitely be a game changer for me.

We had one at our wedding and someone stole it. We were drunk and didn’t notice until two days later. Great camera and I miss it.

A tip for dealing with those CR2 batteries: take them out of the camera anytime you put it on the shelf between film packs. The Lomo Instant Glass takes the same thing, and it drained while it was on the shelf (a couple of years had gone by, but still!) Also this is how I know that you can get 2 for about $15 here in Portland 😅 I don’t love how easy it is to overexpose the Instax Square film personally, I’ve had problems on sunny winter days where it didn’t seem like a risk.

Just wanted to give my own experience with like a 4 pack of CR2 batteries for like $15-20 and they lasted me likeeee 2 years and over 10 packs for sureeee 🥰 and that’s that I switched them between my SQ6 and Mini 70 😳

WAITTTTT, I had to check my Amazon orders because I felt like I was wrong and I was… I bought the batteries December 21, 2020 for $9.75 US plus tax 😳😳😳😳😳 so yeah TWO batteries lasted me 3 years and 8 months 😅

Great review! I've worked with the Instax Mini format before and wasn't too pleased. I would love to try the Square format, but I don't want to spring for the cost, so it's waiting for someone nearby to get one for me to borrow! As for the batteries, yeah, they're expensive. I have several SLRs that take these batteries, but they last forever!

Super cool video and shots! I use several Instax but my favorite is the SQ6 because it has a dedicated button to turn off the flash and in macro mode it takes portraits with an incredible bukeh

You should try the lomo instant square. Much more features than the instax offerings

Aoboo sells rechargeable CR2's, they do have significantly lower capacity, like half, so you need to change more often, but it is free to do so

Don't know if this is a Canadian thing, but around here you can get a pack of 8 cr2 batteries for €13. Even Duracells are like 9 bucks for a pack of 2.

You can get USB rechargeable CR2 batteries. I have been using these batteries with my EOS 300X

That would be sweet! I'll have a look for them!

Fun review, thanks Yvoone! The batteries, you've started something there! CR2's cost about £3 in UK (about 5 canadian dollars) and are pretty common.

I usually put a piece of black electrical or gaffer tape over the flash.

Love your videos! Great review! CR2 battery are very common in point and shoot cameras, I think it's because they are more "powerful" and have 3 volt output instead of standard AA 1,5 volt output. But no expert so somebody please correct me.
@YvonneHansonPhotography6 ай бұрын
Haha, I have never seen them! But I also don't shoot with a ton of point and shoots, especially not modern ones!

@yvonne hanson just for info, these cr2 are common camera batteries and there are cr2 akkucells which are rechargeable and work totally fine, I use them in other cameras!

My niece wants an instant camera for her 18th birthday. The Polaroid Now is so clunky and film is so ridiculously expensive, so Instax is the obvious alternative, but I just don't like the Sq40 has no controls whatsoever. Not even that flash-off switch. And according to Fuji it fires _every time_ and some reviews mention covering it can seriously mess up exposure. 😶

Do you think there will be a SQ 99, with the recent release of the Mini 99?
@YvonneHansonPhotography5 ай бұрын
Yessss I do. They might do a wide 99 first though, but that is just a hunch.

Not that I'm too keen on the price of the camera itself, but the battery costs are a dealbreaker :( Great job on this video, though. The lower shutter speeds are a nice feature that you clearly put to great use :)
