I love my Mini 90 and seeing all the comments deriding the photo quality is pretty funny. They're not wrong but they're also completely missing the point of shooting Instax in the first place. Ofc just getting the printer and printing out perfect digital photos yields better quality, but the fun is in working within the limitations of the format, really testing your skills as a photographer and your knowledge of the gear, only having a limited number of chances to get every thing right, and having that uncertainty of the exact result. And without having to do all the developing of a serious film camera lol I have plenty of imperfect or just bad pictures that I didn't have the heart to retake because I wanted to save film, it's taken a good bit of trial and error to really understand how to get shots to click with the camera, and even now I still miss plenty. But it all makes nailing those perfect shots even more satisfying. If you want perfect pictures every time it's kinda self explanatory that it isn't the format for that

@@the_wiki9408 Yeah, the film stock just isn't great, it has nothing on the good ole' Polaroid.
@Jenaxu9 ай бұрын
@@the_wiki9408 That's fair. And imo it's mostly two things. Major one is cost ofc, they know they can get away with it so why significantly increase production cost for little gain. I'd think it's cool, but serious instant film shooters are a niche within a niche. Ultimately the vast majority are the people the normal Instax 12 is marketed for, those who are just casually enjoying the aesthetic and don't even care about camera controls let alone photo quality, and I doubt increasing the quality would significantly increase sales. Especially since in some places I feel like they're struggling to keep up with film demand as is. And second would be that aesthetic. At a certain point if the photos become too good I do think some of the charm would be lost and people would start questioning, why use an instax instead of a phone or proper camera. So much of the photos we see every day are so perfect now that I do think people are chasing that look of imperfection in their aesthetic and view it as part of the charm of the camera. Same reason there's been like a resurgence in the disposable film cameras look or digicams, most photos are too clinical now and the imperfection makes it almost feel more authentic. It'd still be cool to see them make a "serious" instant film camera though, I wouldn't be opposed.

As expected this mini 99 is a piece of junk. All these influencer reviews use the gear for a few minutes. Nothing real. The mini 99 is made like a piece of junk from a pound store. My dials are stuck and the replacement I got had a fault with the battery compartment. Really really poor design. Mini 90 as expected is way way better in design, aesthetics and most importantly build quality. Has almost all the same features too and takes the same photos. My hope from Fuji is for an ultrawide Instax, ideally with Instax Square. A 42mm lens would have a near-identical field of view to the classic Hasselblad SWC. I know that such a thing exists as an Instax back for Hasselblad cameras, but that misses the point--I don't have Hasselblad money. I have Instax money, and want my ultrawide squares. Anyhow, this looks solid. The older advanced Instax was kind of long in the tooth, and this seems like it has a nicely increased set of controls. I know some folks might be skeptical of the lens, but I've gotten better results typically from that standard 60mm Instax than I have with the Mint TL70.
